RAAAAW! I knew you’d come! Our first Raw after the Greatest Royal Rumble and the go home show before Backlash. They’ll hopefully address the Brock Lesnar/ Roman Reigns issue, the next contenders for the Tag Titles, and of course, Titus World Wideeee.
Roman Reigns starts our RAW to a heavenly chorus of Boos. Canada doesn’t play around. They do a roundabout apology for the botch of the Lesnar/Reigns match from GRR. Roman says he wont make excuses but they’re looking at the real Universal Champion. The crowd erupts in “Roman Sucks” chants. He says he should be the UC but he’s not yet. The volume of the crowd is insane. Roman continues on about never losing faith in himself. He calls out Brock but he knows he’s not here. He references Samoa Joe, who magically appears on the screen. Joe says he is going to put him to sleep. The crowd loves it. Out comes Jinder Mahal….wait what? Jinder says he cant stand someone who makes excuses for themselves. He says Jeff Hardy cheated but he’s not complaining. He continues on, talking trash to Roman and says Roman will lose to him tonight. He says some stuff in Punjab. Sami Zayn comes out and the crowd loses their fucking minds. He speaks in French and the crowd loves it. Sami wants to get down to business. He sustained a “Serious Injury” and he couldn’t go to GRR. Lol good save WWE. Sami says he’s feeling better tonight though. Sami says he’ll make things right be being the one to take on Roman, Jinder protests obviously. Enter Kevin Owens. The crowd goes nuts again. Home town boys get the biggest response. Kevin speaks in French as well and everyone loves it. The crowd chants Oui! He tells Sami he thinks he can beat Reigns, but people really want to see Roman Reigns vs. Kevin Owens. He notices that Sami, Jinder, and himself all want a piece of Roman Reigns. They’ll decide by popularity contest. Sami gets a good response. Jinder gets lots of boos. Kevin Owens makes the roof blow off. We have our winner. Roman punches Kevin, then all of them attack Roman. Bobby Lashley comes out for the save. The numbers are toooo much for him. Braun comes down for some reason. Apparently he’s cool with Roman now. Braun gets overpowered and Lashley comes in. Roman gets back up and throws Jinder out. Braun throws Sunil out of the ring.
Elias is in the ring. He does the usual Elias thing in the ring. Bobby Roode interrupts and is GLORIOUS as usual.
Elias vs. Bobby Roode:
Elias is in control as we come back from commercial but Roode makes a quick comeback. There is a fair amount of back and forth in this match, not really enough to keep up with that wont be boring. We get a mini commercial with the match in a small screen on the bottom left of the screen. Back to the match we have Roode in a headlock on the mat. Roode works Elias over but Elias ends up reversing a move and tosses Roode across the ring. We get another commercial. Were back and they mention Roode is having trouble breathing due to a kick to the throat from Elias. It was a nasty kick but it is what it is. After another throat hit, Roode is down again. Elias announces himself the winner after medical staff attends to Roode. Elias walks away.
Back from commercial and Robert Roode is being carried off.
AOP comes down to the ring.
AOP vs. Two French Canadian dudes
Squash match. RIP you brave, brave men.
Winners by death and destructions: Authors of Pain
That was quick…
Seth Rollins comes down to the ring. Seth hypes up the crowd. He’s pumped about the last month of his career. You can tell the dude loves being out there and being the IC champion. The crowd loses it and get LOUD! Seth eats it up. He says he doesn’t want to be a champion like Brock Lesnar. He brings up him not being the legitimate champion. He talks trash about Brock a little more before Finn Balor comes out. He speaks a little French and makes his way to the ring. He talks about his match at GRR and how close it was… He wants a match tonight for the IC belt. Seth says he has the Miz at Backlash for the IC title buuuut he’ll let the crowd decide. The say Oui! Oui! Oui! Guess that’s a thing then. The miztourage comes out to the ring. They fakes me out thinking it was the Miz. I dislike that. Axel says don’t worry about what the crowd wants. They shouldn’t be fighting each other, they should be fighting together. Axel and Dallas try to get them all to join up. The 4 horsemen of the WWE. Funny segment. They go to attack Rollins and Balor but get whooped. Seth goes to celebrate but Finn attacks him, just to remind him that he’s coming for that ass.
Ruby Riott vs. Sasha Banks
Sasha gets interviewed backstage first. Bayley wont be there to protect Sasha during the match.
The two lock up in the center of the ring. Ruby pushes Sasha into the corner but Sasha gets out quick and takes control of the match. There is a slower pace to this match, Ruby is having her moments here to show off what shes got. They show Bayley backstage just watching the match. Sasha has taken back over getting Ruby in various different holds. The Riott Squad pace back and forth outside of the ring. Sasha hits a Meteora and goes for the pin but Ruby kicks at 2. Sasha remains in control at the commercial break. Back from break and Ruby is in total control. The commentators really are building her up. They have a few back and forths but Ruby comes back with an incredible Senton from the second rope. Holy cow. Sasha stays in somehow and the match continues. Sasha gets Ruby in the banks statement but, with a clever distraction, Ruby gets out. She hits the Riott Kick and gets the win.
Winner by shenanigans: Ruby Riott
A Moment of Bliss. These promos irritate me. Beer time.
Backstage is Renee Young with Titus O’neil! They talk about his trip. Baron Corbin comes back to rain on his parade. The segment ended awkwardly but we still love Renee Young…right?!
Matt Hardy Promo!
Recap of last weeks events with Ronda Rousey, Natalya, and Ronda Rousey.
Jinder Mahal/Sami Zayn/Kevin Owens vs. Braun Strowman/Bobby Lashley/Roman Reigns
KO and Sami go back and forth tagging in just to troll everyone. Roman gets tons of boos. 6 man tags, in most cases, are poor storytelling. My feelings on then, for those keeping score at home, still remains that they don’t serve a big purpose and theyre difficult to follow sometimes. Especially when writing. KO and Sami are super over this match. Bobby Lashley is in ridiculous shape. Roman eventually starts hitting the usual Roman spots. Jinder knocks Lashley off the apron and runs directly into a Samoan Drop. Strowman gets the tag and murders everyone. He runs around the ring and runs through Kevin and Sami a couple of times. He charges Jinder in the ring but Jinder moves and Strowman slams into the ring post. Eventually the Heels rally in the ring with Kevin Owens getting a brief moment against Braun but Braun does Braun things and hits the powerslam.
Winner by running wild on everyone: Braun Strowman….oh and Bobby Lashley and Roman Reigns…
Baron Corbin comes out and talks trash to the crowd. They aren’t happy. He says he doesn’t care. He says Shenanigans so Im happy with Baron for now.
Baron Corbin vs. No Way Jose:
Jose seems to have an answer to almost everything Baron has right at the start. Corbin eventually catches him with a big clothesline and Jose is down. Titus World Wide comes down. They start messing around outside the ring, making fun of Titus falling the other day. The crowd cheers that Titus didn’t fall down the ramp but he falls getting into the ring. Baron claps but Jose rolls him up for the win…
Winner by Dana Brooke distraction and broken internet things: No Way Jose
Mickie James w/ Alexa Bliss vs. Natalya w/ Ronda Rousey
Nattie goes right for Mickie’s injured arm. Mickie ends up getting control by throwing Nattie into the pad in the corner. Mickie holds of Natalya for a while with some help from Alexa. Ronda start chasing her around the ring and Natalya somehow gets the roll up win. We don’t know how because the camera was on Ronda.
Winner by more Shenanigans: Natalya
Nia Jax comes out and Alexa high tales it. Nia gets in the ring to size up Ronda and Nattie, then raises their hands.
Drew McIntyre and Dolph Ziggler phone promo!
Finn Balor vs. Seth Rollins:
Seth and Finn lock up in the center of the ring. The fight goes to the outside of the ring and we get a commercial.... back from commercial and Finn and Rollins are chopping each other. Balor starts building momentum, pushing Seth into the corner. Rollins hits a nice looking Blockbuster off the top rope. Seth makes a beautiful comeback and now things are getting excited. Seth dives out of the ring once, then goes for a second time and gets a kick to the face from Balor. The crowd loves this match, so do I. Finn starts unloading stiff right hands and hits a monster DDT on Rollins. Wow. Finn goes for the Sling Blade but Rollins counters. Rollins survives a volley from Finn. Excellent main event. Balor starts to get more aggressive with Rollins, talking trash and hitting some big chops. Rollins retaliates with a Sling Blade and a big knee. Two count! Seth starts to rally and hits a kick to the gut. Balor throws a right and momentum swings again. Balor hits a double stomp on a downed Rollins. Balor goes for the Coup de Gras but Rollins knocks him off the rope. Rollins climbs up on the rope with Balor. Finn fights him off but Seth comes right back hits the Superplex but Balor reverses for the Falcon Arrow! Holy shit! Seth kicks at two! This is how you end RAW. They trade volleys, ending with Seth getting tossed out of the ring. Finn dives out of the ring onto Rollins. Finn kicks Rollins into the corner. Finn goes up for the Coup but Seth moves, goes for the Curb Stomp but misses. They do a back and forth roll up attempt and Finn hits the Sling Blade. He charges Rollins but Rollins has a Superkick for him. Seth hits a Curb Stomp and gets the win. Holy Shit.
Winner of the match and my heart: Seth Freakin Rollins
This match is why I stay up until 11 to watch the end of RAW. The reason why I shell out tons of money to go to PPVs and live events. Everyone needs to watch this last match if you don't do anything.
That's all we have for today. Stay tuned tomorrow for my Smackdown Review, check out the site for more wrestling things, follow me on twitter @buuurch1, and as always, take care!
