Its that time again folks… Monday Night Raw!
Last night we had the Elimination Chamber in Las Vegas, Nevada. Roman Reigns fulfilled his destiny and became the man to face Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania, Asuka kept her streak alive by beating Nia Jax, Ronda Rousey slams Triple H through a table, and Alexa Bliss retained her Raw Women’s title in a fantastic Elimination Chamber match.
Raw starts off with Alexa Bliss and Mickie James. They come out all buddy buddy. We get more recaps from last night.
Alexa says she amazes herself and gloats about winning the first ever women’s Elimination Chamber match. She praises Mickie James then cuts down everyone else she fought against last night. She points at the sign, saying she’s going to Wrestlemania. That’s the first sign point of the night. That sign has lots of opponents.
Cue Asuka. She walks quickly down to the ring, looking like a woman on a mission. We may finally find out who she’ll challenge for Wrestlemania. The crowd chants “Asuka’s gunnakill you!” Alexa pokes fun at her for not being 100% after the Nia Jax attack last night. She makes fun of Asuka’s English, speaking slowly to her. Asuka looks extra crazy. Nia Jax’s music hits and runs to the ring. Asuka punches everyone before Nia runs her down. Mickie, Nia, and Alexa go to beat up Asuka but Bayley and Sasha come to the rescue. Nia kills everyone in the ring and the heels (including Mickie James now I guess) leave the ring.
Asuka, Bayley, and Sasha Banks vs. Mickie James, Nia Jax, and Alexa Bliss
We come back from commercial to find a random 6 woman tag match happening. This match started really well with lots of energy but it’s kind of died since Sasha made the hard tag on Bayley. I don’t know if she’s sore or what but she doesn’t look into it. Sasha goes to take on Alexa outside the ring and gets clobbered by Nia. Wow. After another commercial Sasha and Nia are in the ring. Nia beats on Sasha for a bit then James comes in to take over. Alexa comes in and stomps on Sasha. The Boss goes for a tag and Bayley jumps away! Asuka gets tagged in instead and she runs wild on everyone in the ring. Mickie James is in the ring getting pummeled by Asuka. Asuka makes her tap with the arm bar. Good match to start off Raw.
Winner: Asuka, Bayley, and Sasha Banks
Video package of a sad John Cena. He’s sad about not having a match for Wrestlemania. Don’t worry John, we’ve got something in mind for you…
Sad John Cena makes his way to the ring. He shakes Coach’s hand because he’s a good guy like that. He looks at the Mania sign. Longing for the days when his spot was guaranteed. He says he failed last night. He delivers passionate promo on failure and being tested. He said he spent 5 minutes feeling sorry for himself then he said he figured it out. He points at the Wrestlemania sign (that’s two points at the sign. The sign remains unphased) and the crowd gives a mixed reaction to his speech and he does the John Cena thing and takes it all in stride. He’s fired up and says he’s going to do something about it. He’s putting out a Mania challenge to….The Undertaker?! *At this moment I tossed my computer against the wall, Power bombed my fiancé on the floor, and hit my neighbors with an elbow drop from the balcony* John says that match is not happening. He says it’s impossible. He says he’s going to Smackdown because that’s where his road to Wrestlemania lies. My heart is broken. My fiancé is concerned with Cory Graves’s hair instead. She is loopy from the power bomb.
Bray Wyatt comes out to the ring. Heath Slater is waiting in the ring. Bray gets in and kills Slater and Rhyno. The crowd chants “DELETE!” Slater takes more of a beating. Apparently this was supposed to be a match but the bell never rang. Bray grabs a mic and blames the whooping he gave to Slater and Rhyno on Matt Hardy. He says the Great War is far from over. Oh joy. He says he’s coming for Matt and tells him to run.
Miz and company are in the ring. Axel has a snazzy suit and Bo still has that silly glove on. I miss the gold jackets from last night. Miz chastises Anaheim for not being Los Angeles. Miz is 62 days from being the longest reigning Intercontinental Champion of All Time. That’s an accomplishment. He names all those people that won’t be longest reigning IC champ. He goes on about how awesome he is and points at the Mania sign (Three times. Sign still stands tall) He says he should be main eventingWrestlemania, but blames Kurt Angle for that. He says the IC title is the most prestigious and honorable title in WWE (I agree). He goes off about a possible match at Mania. He calls out a mystery opponent for tonight. Its Seth Rollins.
Seth Rollins vs. The Miz
Seth and Miz exchange volleys right from the start. The crowd is behind Rollins on this one. Rollins gets the upper hand and sends Miz out of the ring. He goes for a suicide dive but the Miztourage pulls Miz away. Back to the ring. Seth gets distracted and Miz sends him to the floor. Miz works Rollins on the outside then tosses him in the ring and pins him. 2 count. Miz takes control of the match. Rollins mounts a comeback, goes for a pin, but Miz kicks out. Miz knocks Rollins outside again annnnd we go to commercial. We come back to Miz and Rollins chopping and kicking each other back and forth. Rollins picks up steam and hits a slingblade on Miz, then a Blockbuster before going for the pin. Miz kicks. Miz hits a nasty looking DDT on Rollins and goes to pin but Rollins kicks. The crowd is behind this match for sure. Miz builds momentum with corner kicks and such. He gets to the top rope but it knocked off by Seth. Seth climbs up and hits him with the Superplex/Falcon Arrow combo. Miz kicks but everyone is losing it. Miz goes for a Skull Crushing finale but Seth reverses to a roll up. Miz kicks. Miz rolls outside and Seth flies outside on to everyone. Back in the ring Seth hits the knee move he does. He then jumps about 600 feet to hit Miz with a frog splash on the other side of the ring. Hell of a match.
Winner: Seth Rollins.
Finn Balors music hits right away. Finn smiles as usual. Hearts melt. Seth looks confused. My fiancé starts dancing to his music. I need to fight Balor now. I guess that’s my match for Mania. We go to a commercial. As we come back, Finn Balor is facing Miz
Finn Balor vs the Miz
DQ right away as the Miztourage attack Finn. The Good Brother comes out and cleans house. The Miz stalks Finn Balor in the ring. Kurt Angle appears on the screen. He ejects everyone from ringside and says If there is no winner, the Miz isn’t going to Mania. Miz attacks Finn and goes for the pin but Finn kicks. He tries again and Finn Balor kicks again. Finn takes control as he beats Miz around a little bit. More clashes and Miz takes control as we go to the next break
Back from break and the match continues. Seth is backstage watching the match. Finn has taken control and looks like he’s on a roll. He gets a near fall. More volleys are exchanged and Finn does the Yes! Kicks on Miz, he goes to pin but Miz kicks. Finn Balor hits the Coupe de Gras for the win
Winner: Finn Balor
Seth and the loveliest of lovelies, Renee Young, are backstage. He goes off about Finn trying to upstage him. Says he’ll pave his way to Mania and wants the Miz at Wrestlemania.
Roman Reigns comes out to the ring. He’s coming out to call out the Beast, Brock Lesnar. The crowd boos him mercilessly. He calls out Brock for not showing up tonight. Says Brock is an entitled piece of crap. Say’s he’s sick of Brock, just like everyone else in the back. Roman is giving a great promo, scripted or not, it shows the passion the man has for this business. After that promo, Brock will most likely murder Roman, but it’ll be great to watch live at Mania so I support it.
Backstage phone promo with Braun Strowman. He makes some puns about Elias and their match tonight.
Out come the Bar. They have a two out of three falls match vs Titus World Wide
The Bar vs Titus World Wide
Brogue kick to Titus for a quick pin. One fall down. Cesaro and Sheamus celebrate outside the ring. My fiance says she likes Sheamus’ hair better than Cory Graves’. Apollo and Titus show great teamwork, a continuation from last night. Titus shows off his strength while Apollo his agility. The two teams have another good back and forth before Cesaro and Sheamus hit a spiked White Noise and get the second pin
Winner: The Bar
Sheamus is on the mic after the match and cuts a promo saying they don’t know who they’ll face at WrestleMania since they’ve beaten everyone. I wonder who it could be??
Next Elias is in the ring. He took exception to Braun Strowman calling his music noise pollution and cuts a promo on him. Their match is next
Braun Strowman vs Elias
Elias puts up some decent offense in this match but it’s mostly dominated by Braun. The finish comes when Braun sprays Elias with a fire extinguisher.
The match is done but the brawl continues with Elias being knocked out of the ring and making his way up the ramp. Braun, who apparently wasn’t finished with him, lays chase. Elias almost ends up through the announce table but a cleverly placed eye rake saves him and he runs backstage. As the backstage antics ensue, we see a limo pull up. It’s Triple H and Stephanie McMahon.
After the break we make it to the ring where Triple H and Stephanie have made their way too. She blames Kurt angle for the chaos of last nights contract signing and says that even though Ronda believed Kurt, what she did last night was not okay in the WWE. She says Ronda reports to her and wants an apology from Kurt Angle. Out comes Ronda Rousey. Kurt stops her and tells her coming to the WWE is the best thing she could have done. Ronda says she’s never been slapped before in her life and feels disrespected. Kurt said he lied last night about what the McMahons had said. Blames it on the pneumonia. Stephanie thanks Kurt for clearing the air and that she understands why Ronda did what she did. Ronda says everything is settled from last night except the slap. She says if she doesn’t get an apology she’ll rip Stephanie’s arm out of its socket. Steph apologizes and things seem all good. As they go to leave the ring, Triple H decks Kurt Angle and that’s the end of that.
