"Masa Saito's spirit is carved into my heart as I travel along the pro-wrestling road, never to shame the great name of Masa.
Although he was never in Noah, Masa Saito's memory was honored today by the two men who had known him the best; Katsuhiko Nakajima and Masa Kitamiya (who held the frame). They had known him from their days in "Diamond Ring" when Saito worked as a trainer and did management, and gave advice for the younger wrestlers. The roster gathered round the ring and the ten bell salute was sounded. From a picture that Masa Kitamiya posted later on his Twitter, it seems that he did keep in some form of contact with his hero. The picture appears to be taken during a show judging by what Masa Kitamiya is wearing (and he looks sweaty).
Regarding the ceremony today and in the spirit of Masa Saito, Masa Kitamiya said "from now on, I will not hold back".
Local boy (and birthday boy) Kaito Kiyomiya came out today to sign autographs at the merchandise booth (and probably receive presents from fans).
Quiet Storm vs YO-HEY vs Masa Inoue
YO-HEY kept fooling Masao Inoue, who naturally fell to it thanks to YO-HEY'S demonic charm (then again, Akitoshi Saito was also able to fool him easily).
WINNER: Quiet Storm with the 50cm Arm Lariat in Masao Inoue (6 minutes and 32 seconds)
RATELS (Daisuke Harada, Tadasuke & HAYATA) vs Hi69, Minoru Tanaka & Yoshinari Ogawa
At the beginning of the match, and even before he took his RATELS jacket off and took his hood down, Hi69 decided to attack Daisuke Harada outside of the ring and beat him with some kind of pole.
During the match, Minoru Tanaka took one look at Tadasuke and told him "I don't like blondes". Tadasuke was instantly enraged (NO ONE insults his new creepy hair).
WINNER: Tadasuke with the Grand Cobra Twist on Minoru Tanaka (12 minutes and 5 seconds)
Atsushi Kotoge & Kaito Kiyomiya vs Maybach Taniguchi & Cody Hall
Kaito Kiyomiya turned 22 today, and as he is from Saitama, he was presented with a bouquet of flowers. However, he didn't have long to enjoy them as they were immediately seized by Maybach Taniguchi and Cody Hall, who used them to beat himself and Kotoge with (Cody Hall later said it was a tick off his bucket list to smack someone in the face with flowers).
Atsushi Kotoge (who appears to have fixed his cloak, much to the delight of small children everywhere), got flattened by Cody outside the ring, but he was soon to have his revenge as later in the match he covered Cody's head with the cloak, as Kiyomiya rolled Taniguchi up into a schoolboy for the win.
After the match, Kotoge tried another ruse to get Kiyomiya (who despite having a maniac for a tag partner while his older, saner, quieter one is preoccupied elsewhere, looks a lot happier these days now he's been given time to progress quietly and not shoved into title matches or high profile matches he is not ready for) to wear a cloak. Kotoge got on the microphone and said that he had a birthday present for Kiyomiya.
A green cloak.
Kiyomiya thanked him politely, and said thank you but no. He wasn't going to be wearing ANY cloak.
WINNER: Kaito Kiyomiya with the Schoolboy on Maybachi Taniguchi (12 minutes and 47 seconds)
Global Junior Tag League
Seiya Morohashi & Junta Miyawaki vs Ricky Marvin & El Hijo Del Pantera
Seiya Morohashi (who later commented that his young tag team partner was "growing in every match") gave Junta Miyawaki support and encouragement from the apron today. It is highly unlikely they will win Junior Global Tag League, but at this point its the experience and the guidance that Miyawaki needs, and especially from Morohasi, who has gladly given it. There would have been some input that LEONA would have needed from Morohashi, but not as much as Miyawaki needs, and Morohashi has been very good in giving this to him.
Junta Miyawaki later said that this was his first experience with Lucha, and he enjoyed it, and wants to do it again, especially with Ricky Marvin. One fan commented today that althougj Miyawaki did not win, the boy showed good spirit.
WINNER: Ricky Marvin with the Dead End (Tombstone) on Junta Miyawaki (13 minutes and 20 seconds)
Takashi Sugiura, Naomichi Marufuji, Akitoshi Saito & Mohammed Yone vs Go Shiozaki, Katsuhiko Nakajima, Masa Kitamiya & Kenoh
Go Shiozaki and Takashi Sugiura started the match today (the lariat he felled with Sugiura with was described as "intense"). The Aggression attacking Naomichi Marufuji's knees (stay away from the shoulder, boys), and Masa Kitamiya put him in the Prison Lock outside of the ring.
Afterwards the winning team shook hands - even Kenoh, who previously pointed to all of his colleagues in the rebellion against The Empire and told them they were all "dumbasses" (well, except Kotoge, he "defied classfication").
WINNER: Masa Kitamiya with the Prison Lock* on Akitoshi Saito (11 minutes and 57 seconds)
*This move is adapted from one of Masa Saito's, and Kitamiya dedicated this to him today.
Junior Global Tag League
The Backbreakers (Hajime Ohara & Hitoshi Kumano) vs Izuko Hidaka and Takuya Sugawara
Although this was a match between friends, the gloves were off, and Hajime Ohara looked like he had hurt his neck as he was noticed to be holding it.
WINNER: Hajime Ohara with the Muy Bien Clutch on Takuya Sugawara (15 minutes and 36 seconds)
Attendance: 208 people.
