The streaming service was not as flawless as last time sadly, there were some minor issues with lag to begin with, but these soon sorted themselves out.Believe me, this was a minor price to pay for actually getting to see a Noah show streamed live. Naturally (and I hear like other promotions with streaming services), the sound was cut for music of which they don't have the broadcast copyrights to.

Noah had a new trainee who was at ringside today.
It has been reported that three new boys have apparently joined the dojo. I don't know much about them, although it is said that one was a Rugby player.

In the interval Noah announced that they would be holding Global Junior League again this year, and they would also be holding Global League, albeit under a different name and at a different date in the calendar.
From now on Global League will be known as "N1 Victory" and held in the late summer\early Autumn (in this case starting in August and finishing in September). No one is quite sure what the "N" stands for though.

Go Shiozaki & YO-HEY were on autograph duty, with Kaito Kiyomiya doing a special fanclub photo op for fans.

Noah will be back next on the 6th April for the start of Global Tag League, which kicks off in Osaka.

MATCH ONE
The Backbreakers (Hajime Ohara & Hitoshi Kumano) vs RATELS (Daisuke Harada & Tadasuke)

Hitoshi Kumano has come a million miles from his last title match with Daisuke Harada.

Tadasuke and Hajime Ohara worked well together too. There was one moment where they crashed into each other repeatedly and kept making motions as if they were brushing the dust off of their shoulders. Soon afterwards, Ohara started pawing the ground as if he was a wild bull about to charge.
I think Tadasuke might have reacted as if invisible dirt was being kicked up by it.

It is always a pleasure to see Daisuke Harada (who had his "shark smells blood face" on at times during the match) and Hajime Ohara face off against each other, but Hitoshi Kumano can be thrown into that mix too as he's now progressed to the point where he can go toe to toe with Harada, and not be told that he is "out of your league", which Harada told him the last time they feuded. Kumano is turning into a very clever wrestler, while Tadasuke has also evolved and is bringing more aerial moves into his skillset.

WINNER: Daisuke Harada with the Katayama German Suplex on Hajime Ohara (11 minutes and 7 seconds)
Picture

After the match (with Ohara lying on the floor), Kumano pointed at Daisuke Harada's IPW Junior Heavyweight belt and made the challenge motions. Afterwards, he scooped up Ohara and left the ring.

Later he said that it was up to Harada to name the stipulations for the title challenge.

MATCH TWO
Akitoshi Saito & Masao Inoue vs Mitsuya Nagai & Kinya Okada

Kinya Okada (like all the other rookies on the card) came zooming to the ring. He is over with the crowd, and there were a lot of calls for him (and an applause for his dropkick).

Inoue didn't bumble around today, and Saito didn't screw him over and deny it, but he did tell him to basically buck up when he broke the pin.

WINNER: Akitoshi Saito with the pin on Kinya Okada (10 minutes and 49 seconds)
Picture
After the match, Nagai, furious at losing, wrapped the chain he carries around his fist and went to punch Okada with it.
But then Atsushi Kotoge, the self proclaimed "Revolutionary Hero", came bouncing into the ring and put the cape round Nagai's shoulders.
Kotoge (still with a bandaged elbow) told him that "heroes did not use chains", and when Nagai turned to yell at a woman in the crowd, Kotoge told him that from now on he wasn't to yell at women that they were "noisy old bags".
Nagai looked cross.
Kotoge considered it a victory.
Naomichi Marufuji (whose own hair has the red washing out of it) later said he wondered if "the bald octopus has become a petty thief" (Nagai had commented that the cloak Kotoge had given him looked as if it was used for robberies).

MATCH THREE
Takashi Sugiura & KAZMA SAKAMOTO vs Maybach Taniguchi & Junta Miyawaki

Maybach Taniguchi came out to sinister music clutching his Sasumata, of which a piece of Junta Miyawaki's orange streamers wrapped itself around.
The music (U2'S "When Love Comes To Town") was muted, so I played the theme from "The Terminator" over Takashi Sugiura's entrance.
Needless to say, it worked.

The fight got going right away with both teams attacking the other as soon as the bell rang.
Miyawaki was trying to brush off Sugiura (who imitated KAZMA'S loud scream), but it didn't work, and naturally being the youngest and a rookie, he got the worst from the opposition in this match, although it was the slap from Sugiura on Taniguchi who got the loudest reaction from the crowd in this match.

WINNER: Takashi Sugiura with the Olympic Slam on Junta Miyawaki (11 minutes and 32 seconds)

After the match, Taniguchi (who does this once in a Blue Moon), got on the microphone and told KAZMA that in Global Tag League, he was basically going to fuck his shit up.
Miyawaki rolled out of the ring.
Sugiura and KAZMA left under KAZMA'S umbrella.

MATCH FOUR
Naomichi Marufuji & 50 Funky Powers (Mohammed Yone & Quiet Storm) vs Masaaki Mochizuji, Masa Kitamiya & Yoshiki Inamura

50 Funky Powers entered to Naomichi Marufuji's music, and it was odd to see them do their pose to "Hysteric".

This is Masaaki Mochizuki's first appearance in Noah. He and Marufuji of course had faced off against each other at the Giant Baba memorial show. There was no serious rivalry between them, it was more of a friendly rivalry.
Noah didn't start off with Marufuji and Mochizuki first, instead Mochizuki firmly moved Inamura out of the way by putting him in the corner. However, Marufuji stood on the ring apron, bouncing around to be tagged in against him, and the crowd showed sympathy when he didn't.

As he is the rookie in the match, Inamura got thrown repeatedly into the iron barriers (like what Marufuji did to Kiyomiya in Yokohama), and he also "dog eared" him too (i.e. he picked him up by his ears), and naturally he also got chopped too.

When Marufuji and Mochizuki did get into the ring, there was kick chop battle between them.

Masa Kitamiya wasn't much in the match, I think he wanted to take a backseat to let Inamura shine, and shine Inamura did as he more than held his own against 50 Funky Powers.

WINNER: Mohammed Yone with the Funky Buster Bomb on Yoshiki Inamura (17 minutes and 11 seconds)
Picture

Nothing was said after the match about Marufuji and Mochizuki teaming together, although it was hinted afterwards when Marufuji motioned for him to get into the ring and they shook hands.

MATCH FIVE
Stinger (Kotaro Suzuki & Yoshinari Ogawa) vs Minoru Tanaka & Hi69

Surprisingly, Stinger did not insist that Hi69 have a public weighing, but Hi69 (who did look slimmer and more toned) came to the ring carrying electric scales, which he weighed himself in front of some fans (one whom took a picture).
Seiya Morohashi came out to second Hi69 & Minoru Tanaka.

There was tremendous energy in this match from all competitors, but it was Hi69 who stole the show tonight, especially with his backwards somersault from the top turnbuckle outside the ring.

WINNER: Kotaro Suzuki with the Requiem on Minoru Tanaka (16 minutes and 44 seconds)

After the match, Kotaro Suzuki took a look at Minoru Tanaka, picked up the microphone and said simply that he was going to challenge for the GHC Junior Heavyweight title.
Picture
MATCH SIX
Kaito Kiyomiya, Kenoh & YO-HEY vs AXIZ (Katsuhiko Nakajima & Go Shiozaki) vs HAYATA

Katsuhiko Nakajima came to the ring looking sinister.
He was going to get even more sinister as the match went on, such as when he was thrown at the ropes, and he slipped under them and smirked.

The tension was crackling in this match, YO-HEY & HAYATA didn't really figure much in it, but the tension was between the two heavyweight teams (and Kenoh was the one who got the machine gun chops). The match started with Kenoh getting Kiyomiya out of the ring to, in order to face Nakajima. Halfway through their start, Nakajima sauntered over and tagged HAYATA in, HAYATA didn't look too thrilled to be in the ring against Kenoh.
When YO-HEY & HAYATA did lock up, YO-HEY did his usual confusing movements, and his former wife wasn't too impressed and stood there with his hands on his hips.

It was the GHC Heavyweight champion who got the brunt of AXIZ, kicked and chopped by them in tandem, the soccer ball kicks from Nakajima, and then there came the head kick (or "the punt") which when it connected made this thudding sound that the camera audio picked up loudly and the audience reacted to.
Nakajima, then struck with the Vertical spike for the win.

There was a touching moment when Kenoh rolled Kiyomiya out of the ring, and YO-HEY hung around to help.

WINNER: Katsuhiko Nakajima with the Vertical Spike on Kaito Kiyomiya (20 minutes and 57 seconds)

(NOAH) EVENT RECAP ~ KANAZAWA DISTRIBUTION CENTRE (21ST MARCH, "SPRING NAVIGATION 2019" ~ NIGHT FIVE)

Picture

Noah wrapped up their three day in a row tour in Kanazawa, now there is a break of about seven or eight days until they celebrate the final night of "Spring Navigation 2019" at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo on Friday March 29th. After a week on the road, three days straight of wrestling, and long bus journeys (and a week in Osaka), Noah were glad to return home at the end of it.

Today's show teased what we can expect from this years Global Tag League, and of course the future story-lines in Noah.

Katsuhiko Nakajima was on autograph duty today.

MATCH ONE
Masao Inoue vs Kinya Okada

Masao Inoue was his usual bumbling self, but today he showed a streak of paranoia by thinking that the ref was somehow out to screw him over, by complaining that the count was too slow.

WINNER: Masao Inoue with the Boston Crab in Kinya Okada (9 minutes and 1 second)

MATCH TWO
Takashi Sugiura & NOSAWA Rongai vs Masa Kitamiya & Yoshiki Inamura

Intense match with Sugiura and Kitamiya crashing into each other hard.
Kitamiya has really taken Inamura under his wing, and was shouting encouragement to him throughout the match

WINNER: Masa Kitamiya with the submission on NOSAWA (10 minutes and 10 seconds)
Picture
MATCH THREE
50 Funky Powers (Mohammed Yone & Quiet Storm) vs Akitoshi Saito & Maybach Taniguchi

Maybach Taniguchi doesn't seem as if he is going to be rehabilitated from his "Monster" persona any time soon and (complete with grunting noises), he bought his "stick" (as Quiet Storm called his Sasumata) and used it to choke Yone, and they also got into a fight in the crowd.
The "The Saturday Night Fever" pose only halted him momentarily.

However, the team of Saito and Taniguchi didn't last, as after knocking each other down they turned on each other, and got stung with the Funky Buster Bomb. Afterwards, the team departed the hall, doing the old threatening points at each other.

WINNER: Mohammed Yone with the Funky Buster Bomb on Maybach Taniguchi (11 minutes and 32 seconds)

MATCH FOUR
Stinger (Yoshinari Ogawa, Kotaro Suzuki & YO-HEY) vs Hi69, Minoru Tanaka & Junta Miyawaki

YO-HEY hasn't really forgiven Junta Miyawaki for saying he was going to show YO-HEY "peron" (word doesn't translate well, but it basically means in very rough form, to roll something), and so the poor boy got tortured not only by YO-HEY, but also Yoshinari Ogawa too.
An old lady in the crowd expressed concern for poor Junta, and YO-HEY (true to his new heel persona), agreed with her in his usual demonic charm filled way.

Junta said to be getting better and better.
Fingers crossed his first win isn't too far off.

After the match, Stinger got beat down by Minoru Tanaka and Hi69.

WINNER: YO-HEY with the Face G on Junta Miyawaki (20 minutes and 35 seconds)

MATCH FIVE
Naomichi Marufuji & Hajime Ohara vs Daisuke Harada & Tadasuke
Picture
"The Generational Struggle" might be drawing to a close now that the younger heavyweights are stamping their mark on "the era", but it seems that for the heavyweights in general, a new threat has reared its head. The juniors look to be going to war with them regarding their own status being less than the heavyweights, although he didn't make too much of a comment about it at the time, it does look like Daisuke Harada took on board Minoru Tanaka's comments about the GHC Junior being the main event today.
It was also noted that Marufuji and Ohara were wearing very similar colors.

WINNER: Naomichi Marufuji with the Perfect Key Lock on Tadasuke (15 minutes and 24 seconds)

MATCH SIX
Kaito Kiyomiya, Kenoh & HAYATA vs Katsuhiko Nakajima, Go Shiozaki & Hitoshi Kumano

A lot of fan clamor for Hitoshi Kumano to challenge for the singles title.
The kicks between Nakajima and Kenoh were described as "sounding very painful". Kaito Kiyomiya says that he is stimulated by watching Kenoh in the ring with the "fighting spirit" springing to life quickly.

Picture
At the end of the match, Nakajima holding the GHC Heavyweight tag championship, got in Kenoh's face with an evil grin.
Kenoh scowled.
Kiyomiya and Shiozaki stared at each other (Shiozaki from the ring apron, and Kiyomiya in the ring hugging the belt).

When AXIZ had finally gone, the team of Kenoh & Kiyomiya declared AXIZ to be a "wanted" tag team.

WINNER: Kaito Kiyomiya with the Tiger Suplex on Hitoshi Kumano (15 minutes and 57 seconds)

Picture
Kaito Kiyomiya today at the venue posing with "Puroresu Weekly". He is 22, and he already has been on the cover of "Puroresu Weekly" about four times

Noah held their second to last date of "Spring Navigation 2019" in a city in Osaka, outside of the main metropolis. This is a short tour, and is really a filler to generate hear between teams for Global Tag League and to fill up the dates before it starts on April 6th.

Local nut Atsushi Kotoge was not at the venue today, but he was looking at the beautiful cherry blossom (Sakura) that are blooming over springtime Japan.

HAYATA was on autograph duty today.

MATCH ONE
Masa Kitamiya & Yoshiki Inamura vs Junta Miyawaki & Kinya Okada

Yoshiki Inamura won his second match today and second victory over Kinya Okada. Its kind of hard not to feel a bit sorry for Junta Miyawaki, but after all Inamura pinned Okada, a fellow rookie, and not Masa Kitamiya, a seasoned veteran. Miyawaki will get his big win eventually.
Kitamiya was very happy with his trainees today, and celebrated with a big smile for Yoshiki Inamura.

WINNER: Kinya Okada with the Boston Crab on Kinya Okada (11 minutes and 4 seconds)

MATCH TWO
Quiet Storm vs Hi69

This is their first singles match ever in the four years since Hi69 joined Noah, naturally their paths do not cross much in singles matches with Hi69 being a junior and Quiet Storm a heavyweight, even though Noah do like to mix these up (something which we have to give the credit to KENTA and Marufuji for back in their own junior days).
Picture
After the match, the ring was stormed by Yoshinari Ogawa and Kotaro Suzuki, who beat up on Hi69.
This is unusual Noah booking; it has happened in the past naturally (and Kotaro Suzuki is the most guilty of it), but it is very rare. Even rarer is Yoshinari Ogawa joining in, at one point they even held him up for Quiet Storm to attack (he didn't I don't think), and Hi69 was fortunately saved by Minoru Tanaka.

WINNER: Quiet Storm with the 50 cm lariat (8 minutes and 9 seconds)
Picture
MATCH THREE
Takashi Sugiura & KAZMA SAKAMOTO vs Maybach Taniguchi & Hitoshi Kumano

Takashi Sugiura and KAZMA Sakamoto had their first outing as a tag team today, at the end of it KAZMA paid tribute to Sugiura as a "symbol of Noah's strength". Sugiura paid his own tribute by imitating KAZMA'S scream.

No weapons in this match from Taniguchi, who appears to have behaved himself pretty much (although he did threaten one of the refs with it, and attacked his opponents before the bell rang).

WINNER: Takashi Sugiura with the Olympic Slam on Hitoshi Kumano (9 minutes and 49 seconds)

MATCH FOUR
Naomichi Marufuji & Mohammed Yone vs Akitoshi Saito & Masao Inoue

Comic match, in which Naomichi Marufuji hit Akitoshi Saito with a rolled up poster he pinched from a fan, Masao Inoue bumbled around and tired himself running the ropes (and he got kicked in face by Marufuji at one point for messing around), and Akitoshi Saito pulled the disco pose at both Yone and Inoue.

WINNER: Mohammed Yone with the Kinniku Buster on Masao Inoue (12 minutes and 57 seconds)
Picture
MATCH FIVE
Stinger (Yoshinari Ogawa, Kotaro Suzuki & YO-HEY) vs Daisuke Harada, Tadasuke & HAYATA

Despite the "bullying" of HAYATA in the match by Yoshinari Ogawa and Kotaro Suzuki, RATELS were victorious, and put on a united front at the end with their victory over Stinger, Harada later wrote that the six of them were going to do this again and again.
YO-HEY, however, endured his own "bullying" at the hands of his former friends, when Tadasuke held him down on the apron and Harada and HAYATA kicked him in the head. Ogawa also got their tandem kick.

During the match a little boy had been cheering for "Uncle".
"Uncle" was Daisuke Harada, who gave his RATELS wristband to him afterwards.

WINNER: Uncle Daisuke with the fall technique on Yoshinari Ogawa (21 minutes)

MATCH SIX
Kaito Kiyomiya, Kenoh & Minoru Tanaka vs AXIZ (Katsuhiko Nakajima & Go Shiozaki) & Hajime Ohara

Kenoh and Nakajima had a vicious kick battle, and the rivalry between both teams, was increased for Global Tag League.

In the junior division, Minoru Tanaka decided he was going to imitate Go Shiozaki's chops, and did a teasing one on him.
Shiozaki then tagged in Hajime Ohara (who really got it in this match).

Minoru Tanaka was photographed peeping out from behind Kaito Kiyomiya when he and Kenoh did their pose in the ring, and at the end when Minoru Tanaka (the GHC Junior Heavyweight champion) and Kiyomiya stood with their arms raised, Kenoh stood to the side slightly dejected (and with the usual scowl on his face, although it has been noticed he is smiling a whole lot more at the end of matches when talking to Kiyomiya).
Picture
At the end of the match, the two Global Tag League teams turned to face each other, Kenoh as ever probably swearing at Nakajima (who had a huge grin on his face), while Shiozaki looked at his former protegee and tag team partner, Kiyomiya.

WINNER: Kaito Kiyomiya with the Tiger Suplex on Hajime Ohara (18 minutes)

Comments

Picture
"Kenoh and Kiyomiya are holding the rudder of the newborn Noah"

Although the venue was dark (its normally used as a theater, although promotions do often use it), hence the lack of windows, skylights etc, people commented that the lighting on the white mat made it look brighter than usual.

There was, no sign of local nut, Atsushi Kotoge today, but the other (saner) local boy, Daisuke Harada was on autograph duty.

MATCH ONE
Masao Inoue & Junta Miyawaki vs Hitoshi Kumano & Kinya Okada

WINNER: Hitoshi Kumano with the Genba Hirayanagi on Junta Miyawaki (10 minutes and 27 seconds)
Picture
MATCH TWO
HAYATA & Tadasuke vs KAZMA SAKAMOTO & NOSAWA Rongai

Local boy Daisuke Harada came out to second RATELS.
Tadasuke offered HAYATA his hand, and naturally, HAYATA being HAYATA, he stared at it for a moment before taking it (it was always YO-HEY who he had no problems shaking hands with).

WINNER: HAYATA with the moonsault on NOSAWA Rongai (9 minutes and 41 seconds)

MATCH THREE
Stinger (YO-HEY & Yoshinari Ogawa) vs Hi69 & Minoru Tanaka

Poor Ogawa. Being chopped by Naomichi Marufuji at Hakata Starlane meant that he came to the ring today with a bruise in which you could see long splayed fingerprints forming (he wasn't the only one who bore the marks of a stiff match in Hakata Stalene, Takashi Sugiura's chest was spotted like old paper and just as fragile as he started bleeding).

The match finished with Hi69 doing the Stuka Splash on Yoshinari Ogawa. Ogawa (who may well have been selling the move to make a point, given the fact that Kotaro Suzuki had implied that Hi69 was too heavy to challenge for the Junior Heavyweight tag, as the limit is 100kg and Hi69 is 102), seemed to be somewhat struggling after the match, which caused the second to get into the ring, while YO-HEY looked on in concern.
Ogawa seemed to be well enough eventually, however, to leave the ring unaided.

WINNER: Hi69 with the Stuka Splash on Yoshinari Ogawa (18 minutes and 17 seconds)
Picture
MATCH FOUR
Takashi Sugiura vs Maybach Taniguchi

This was a rare singles match between Takashi Sugiura and Maybach Taniguchi (their last match was in April 2017), and Taniguchi being Taniguchi (and still in Monster of The Hooligans mode) bought his Sasumata to the ring and used it as a weapon on Sugiura to choke him.
After the short but intense match, Taniguchi attacked the referee again.

WINNER: Takashi Sugiura with the Olympic Slam (10 minutes and 2 seconds)

MATCH FIVE
Naomichi Marufuji & AXIZ (Katsuhiko Nakajima & Go Shiozaki) vs Akitoshi Saito, Masa Kitamiya & Yoshiki Inamura

Naturally, this was not an easy teaming for Naomichi Marufuji, as he was tagging with AXIZ (who are of the "mid-generation" of Noah, and therefore are opposed to him as he is a senior), and according to one attendee today there was a "subtle sense of distance between AXIZ and Marufuji before the match".

Young Yoshiki Inamura got the brunt of what the other team dished out (kicks and chops) in this match being the rookie, and Nakajima and Kitamiya tore into each other.
Picture
At the end, in a display of sportsmanship that the Cheshire Cat would display (and with a grin to match), Nakajima shook Marufuji's hand.
And then kicked him in the head.
Then Go Shiozaki joined in, and lariated him

WINNER: Go Shiozaki with the lariat on Yoshiki Inamura (16 minutes and 55 seconds)
Picture
MATCH SIX
Kaito Kiyomiya, Kenoh & Daisuke Harada vs 50 Funky Powers (Mohammed Yone & Quiet Storm) & Hajime Ohara

"We don't need words. We are facing the same direction, so we work together smoothly"
(Kaito Kiyomiya)

They might not have "needed words", but there was evidently a conversation in the ring between Kenoh and Kiyomiya today that amused Kenoh, as he was seen to be smiling.
At the end of the match, Kenoh spoke on the microphone about how he and Kiyomiya would win Global Tag League, and show everyone a Noah that they had never seen before.

WINNER: Kaito Kiyomiya with the Tiger Suplex on Hajime Ohara (14 minutes and 36 seconds)

(NOAH) EVENT RECAP ~ ""FOOTSTEPS & MEMORIES: THANK YOU AND GOODBYE HAKATA STALENE" ("SPRING NAVIGATION 2019" ~ NIGHT TWO)

3/17/2019

Comments

Picture

Noah's last event ever at Hakata Stalene, was not without drama as the little blue truck carrying the merchandise broke down, and the wrestlers bus had to be sent out to rescue them, which meant that there was no signing as planned (and as per usual) before the event. However, Noah made up for this in the intermission.

As stated, this will be the very last time that Noah visit Hakata Stalene, and it's not just Noah, no one else will come here again soon. The building has been damaged over the years by seismic activity, and the old venue is crumbling. Due to its construction methods its now too costly to repair, and will be torn down.
Everything will go. Even the ikonic bowling alley (although I think Daisuke Harada might have managed to steal a pin from the lane, as he carried one to the ring).

This has been a place of memories for Noah, some of them good, some of them bittersweet.
It was here that Katsuhiko Nakajima had a singles match with Mitsuharu Misawa (and Kensuke Sasaki and Akira Hokuto came to the venue today to see their semi adopted son), and it was also here that Go Shiozaki won the GHC Heavyweight title for the first time by beating Takashi Rikio for it. The title had been vacated by Jun Akiyama due to injury.
It was also just after Misawa had died, and Shiozaki naturally was too numb to do more than bow to Misawa's flower altar that had been erected, and then sit down and sob at the after match interview with his head in his hands.
Picture

However, the big news for today was that Noah streamed the show live from YouTube on their official channel. They had to mute the sound due to copyright issues with some theme music, the picture and the streaming was flawless. There was no commentary, as this is only done for big events that are broadcast on the network.
I have been asked a lot if this means that Noah are going to make this a regular thing. The answer is, I don't know; but I get the feeling that this is them killing two birds with one stone, broadcasting a big event for them and seeing what response they get (about 2.1K people tuned in worldwide).

No one took any notice of the streamer ban again.

MATCH ONE
RATELS (Daisuke Harada, Tadasuke & HAYATA) vs The Backbreakers (Hajime Ohara & Hitoshi Kumano) & Junji Tanaka.

Junji Tanaka appeared in the ring wearing traditional Japanese underwear, which exposed a lot of his ass to the crowd - Tadasuke kicked him in it, and Harada folded him up so everyone got a good look at it. Later in the match, Hajime Ohara got hung over the turnbuckle and ended with his face in Tanaka's crotch - which RATELS made worse by pulling on Tanaka's legs.

The was a big cheer for Hitoshi Kumano (known as Noah's "growing bear"), and even bigger one for his prodigious strength in throwing HAYATA (photogenic as ever) around.

Crowd VERY into the first match which finished with a beautiful HAYATA moonsault.

WINNER: HAYATA with a moonsault on Hajime Ohara (11 minutes and 58 seconds)
Picture
MATCH TWO
Stinger (Kotaro Suzuki & YO-HEY) vs Minoru Tanaka & Hi69

Kotaro Suzuki came to the ring holding up the belt for fans to touch.

Usual YO-HEY lock up, waving his arms around, Hi69 (who seemed pretty grumpy today), gave up and stood with his hands on his hips before attacking him.

YO-HEY & Suzuki worked on Hi69's notoriously bad knees, each working in tandem to keep the GHC Junior champion out of the ring (at one time YO-HEY told him to "go away").

A fast paced match which ended with Hi69 challenging for the junior tag titles, Suzuki told him okay, but he would need to check the weight limits (Hi69 is kind of on the podgy side, so given that Kotaro Suzuki once said that Hitoshi Kumano was "blubber", he will probably demand a public weighing or something).

WINNER: Hi69 with the Stuka Splash on Kotaro Suzuki (14 minutes and 37 seconds)

MATCH THREE
Katsuhiko Nakajima, Akitoshi Saito, Maybach Taniguchi & Masao Inoue vs Masa Kitamiya, Yoshiki Inamura, Junta Miyawaki & Kinya Okada.

Junta Miyawaki put up a good fight against Taniguchi (who bought the usual Sasumata to the ring, but didn't use it, he also didn't attack the ref today, and Saito didn't need to try and control him).

Brawls outside the ring, with Nakajima fighting with Kitamiya (at one point hitting him with a chair) in a strategy to keep him away from the young rookies on his team. When they did fight in the ring, there was an exchange between them which whipped the crowd up into a frenzy...it was a massive punch exchange which was phenomenal. This match belonged to Nakajima, who was on fire. He grinned evily at Kitamiya at the end, and on the way out (in between posing), threw Okada into the steel barrier, Inamura jumped in to save him, and fortunately for him, Nakajima walked off.

WINNER: Katsuhiko Nakajima with the Vertical Spike on Kinya Okada (14 minutes and 7 seconds)
Picture
MATCH FOUR
Naomichi Marufuji vs Yoshinari Ogawa

This was a rare singles match; Marufuji doesn't often wrestle Ogawa, and Ogawa doesn't usually have singles matches (his last one was against Doug Williams in late 2018).
There was a handshake at the beginning of the match, with Marufuji bowing low as Ogawa is his senior (plus the most senior man on the roster).

It was a very technical match with Ogawa torturing Marufuji (Kiyomiya must think this is karma). Marufuji did get a few shots in and Ogawa will be suffering a red chest for the next few days.
At one point, Marufuji tried to escape Ogawa's submission, managed to get away for about a second, and Ogawa caught him and locked him straight back in it.

After the match, Marufuji said he was exhausted, he wasn't able to open any drawers to pull out any moves, not even by a fraction.
20 year veteran he may be, but Marufuji still goes to Ogawa, the master, when he wants advice on technique, and today he was given a masterclass.

WINNER: Naomichi Marufuji with the Boston Crab (19 minutes and 2 seconds)
Picture
MATCH FIVE
Takashi Sugiura vs Go Shiozaki

First of all, when Shiozaki and Sugiura collide; don't be expecting any technical moves. These two are going to knock the stuffing out of each other. And they proceeded to do that today, so much so at one point, I thought Shiozaki had been genuinely knocked out (he probably was for about a few seconds though), and the ref had to do a concussion test on him.
Sugiura also gave Shiozaki a slight nosebleed.

At the match, where they both tore the roof off the building (in a match people thought should have main evented and was in fact better than the main), Shiozaki gave momentary concern when it looked like he would have to be helped from the ring, but he managed to walk (although he was a bit wobbly, and slightly fell up the steps).

After the match, Takashi Sugiura said that Noah may have changed, the logo and the mat, and there was a new wind blowing, but one thing would never change; he would always be aiming for the belt.

WINNER: Takashi Sugiura with the Avalanche Olympic Slam (21 minutes and 8 seconds)

MATCH SIX
Kenoh & Kaito Kiyomiya vs 50 Funky Powers (Mohammed Yone & Quiet Storm).

Kenoh appeared first, and then paused as Kaito Kiyomiya stepped out. It made a vivid impression, and an ikonic moment, when Kenoh offered his hand to Kiyomiya and they shook. Kenoh wearing his red jacket and Kiyomiya in the Misawa green, also have a new entry pose when they get in the ring.

Kenoh (however) was still looking sour, although he was seen to smile at Kiyomiya at the end of the match.
Picture

There was a massive Kenoh & Quiet Storm, chop kick battle in a stiff main event. Yone joined in too, showing Kenoh that he was not the only one who could kick hard - although he did it on Kiyomiya. Kenoh and Kiyomiya worked well together, with Kiyomiya dropkicking Quiet Storm out of the way from the top turnbuckle and saving Kenoh from the Funky Buster Bomb, and then we saw their tandem move as Kiyomiya put Yone on his shoulders, and then slammed him for Kenoh to do the diving footstamp for the win.

Then Kenoh got on the microphone.
For a moment, from his generally angry tone, you would have thought that he was challenging Kiyomiya for the belt, but no - he was just thanking people for coming to the venue today. Kiyomiya also thanked people, albeit in a far more polite way.

Then they left the ring, and the audience stampeded to the merchandise tables.

WINNER: Kenoh with the diving footstamp on Mohammed Yone (13 minutes and 59 seconds)

(NOAH) EVENT RECAP MATSUYAMA CITY COMPREHENSIVE COMMUNITY CENTER, PLANNING EXHIBITION HALL, EHIME ("SPRING NAVIGATION 2019" ~ NIGHT ONE)

3/16/2019

Comments

Picture
Noah started the first night of "Spring Navigation 2019" (full tour dates can be found here), in Kenoh's home island of Shikoku (but not his hometown, which he lovingly refers to as "this fucking countryside"), and the man himself was on autograph duty today.
Miyaki Wakako, Noah's official photographer, said that the atmosphere was an excited one, with a lot of momentum carried over from Yokohama.

Noah like to cater for the provinces, and a small exercise class (hosted by Masa Kitamiya) was held for about six or so local children in the ring for about fifteen or twenty minutes, and after the main event, Kaito Kiyomiya went around the small hall and shook hands with each person in the front row.

Ehime Pro (a local promotion) also held their traditional match when Noah are in the area for about ten or fifteen minutes before the event started.

No one also took any notice of the streamer ban.

MATCH ONE
Hitoshi Kumano vs Kinya Okada

Okada put up a good fight, but ultimately he couldn't prevail against the six year veteran (who had also helped train him).

WINNER: Hitoshi Kumano (9 minutes and 45 seconds with the lariat)
Picture
MATCH TWO
Takashi Sugiura & NOSAWA Rongai vs Masao Inoue & HAYATO

This is NOSAWA Rongai's first time in Noah, he has been on events involving Noah, but never actually in the promotion himself. He has come to Noah via WRESTLE-1, and today formed a scary tag team with Takashi Sugiura (KAZMA SAKAMOTO is elsewhere today).

HAYATO is from Ehime Pro.

The focus today was more on the interplay between Masao Inoue and Takashi Sugiura than on NOSAWA. Sugiura was briefly grateful to Inoue, who he calls "the weird old man" (despite the fact that Inoue is only six months older than him), but that stopped soon after Inoue stopped bumbling around and helped destroy The Hooligans, and today was no exception. Inoue used the usual tricks to try and get over Sugiura, but in the end, fell to him.

WINNER: Takashi Sugiura with the schoolboy on Masao Inoue (11 minutes and 4 seconds)
Picture
MATCH THREE
Hajime Ohara vs Hi69

Good match, although Hi69 was said to have hit Ohara with closed fists.

WINNER: Hi69 with the Stuka Splash (12 minutes and 3 seconds)
Picture
MATCH FOUR
AXIZ (Go Shiozaki & Katsuhiko Nakajima) & Minoru Tanaka vs Akitoshi Saito, Maybach Taniguchi & Junta Miyawaki

Maybach Taniguchi is still in "Monster Hooligans" mode as he came to the ring with his Sasumata (which he knocked everyone down with and cheered). The biggest friction was between himself and once upon a time tag team partner, Go Shiozaki, as they got into a weapons fight (Shiozaki wielding an iron barrier against him).
After the match, Taniguchi attacked the ref (Saito really needs to get to work deprogramming him).
Picture
There was a group hug at the end between AXIZ and Minoru Tanaka (Shiozaki apparently lent on Nakajima so heavily, that he almost knocked him over!)

WINNER: Go Shiozaki with the Go Flasher on Junta Miyawaki (14 minutes and 23 seconds)
Picture
MATCH FIVE
Naomichi Marufuji & 50 Funky Powers (Mohammed Yone & Quiet Storm) vs Kenoh, Masa Kitamiya & Yoshiki Inamura

Marufuji had mocked Kenoh before the match, writing on Twitter (ever the best way to have beef with someone), that Kenoh was an "obedient Kenoh" these days (he is hinting that Kenoh now does what Kiyomiya tells him), and he also used the suffix "kun", which is what a senior uses to address a junior.
Kenoh made no comment to Marufuji directly, but instead said about the match that he was looking forward to facing Marufuji for the first time since he came back from injury, and that he wanted to kick him.
Kick him hard.

So, Marufuji and Kenoh faced off right away (everyone knew this was how it was going to go down), and Marufuji Kawada kicked him.
Kenoh (who should feel himself lucky that it wasn't Kawada he did this to), no sold it with about the same temper that Kawada used to often be provoked into losing (usually by Misawa). The fight with Marufuji would go around the arena, even to the merchandise table, and there were kicks from Kenoh and chops from Marufuji outside the ring.

After the match, Marufuji said (in a rough translation), "Kenoh-kun, you must be fond of me? I'm not even in Global Tag League..."
Picture
It wouldn't surprise me if Marufuji announced himself as a surprise entrant, just to annoy Kenoh.

WINNER: Mohammed Yone with the Funky Buster Bomb on Yoshiki Inamura (18 minutes and 50 seconds)
Picture
MATCH SIX
Kaito Kiyomiya & Stinger (Yoshinari Ogawa & YO-HEY) vs RATELS (Daisuke Harada, HAYATA & Tadasuke)

Kaito Kiyomiya appeared once again in his fluffy Misawaesque coat. I do have to admit, that it does make the GHC look really magnificent, and it harks back to the belts lineage of its first owner and inaugurator, Mitsuharu Misawa.
It also makes me wonder whether Misawa designed the belt to go with his coat...

Ogawa and YO-HEY were out for revenge against HAYATA (Ogawa and Suzuki in particular are not going to forgive him for betraying them), and so he was beaten up on by them and isolated from the rest of RATELS.
Picture
rom what I could make out, Daisuke Harada seemed to be making a beeline for Kaito Kiyomiya. There has been a lot of speculation about Harada going to the heavyweights, and while I think this will happen eventually, for now I think Harada wants to concentrate on building up the Noah juniors.
After the match, both RATELS and Stinger faced off with each other (while Tadasuke lay on the floor).

WINNER: Kaito Kiyomiya with the Tiger Suplex on Tadasuke (26 minutes and 7 seconds)

(NOAH) EVENT RECAP - GREAT VOYAGE IN YOKOHAMA 2019 (10TH MARCH 2019)

3/10/2019

Comments

Picture
The show started before the fans even arrived at the venue, and both inside, outside and in terms of atmosphere, it was like stepping back into Noah's "Golden Era".

As well as the billboards with the main event on it, Noah also erected "Gatcha machines" (these are like those random toy machines you get for a few pennies in arcades), which spat out little figurines of the roster. Noah also filmed a confident looking Naomichi Marufuji (in his red and black jacket, with red and black hair to match) and a nervous looking Kaito Kiyomiya, arriving at the venue.

The usual banners were on display, but it had been noted that the old logo had been removed from the tour bus. Although the show was not sold out with some empty seats seen, there were said to be more people than usual at the venue today.

Noah introduced their new colors of black and white, the ring is a simple white canvas with the logo in the middle (a soft white light shines down from above) with a black apron. The iron fences were white tipped, and the runway was also white, as was the outside mats. In another change, an announcement was also made in English for the visiting fans.

Only two minutes in, the produce was said to be amazing as the screen (positioned over the entryway and flanked by green pillars, five in total) lit up and played a video of Misawa to "Spartan-X".

Picture

The roster, (including Atsushi Kotoge in a cape and looking somehow more insane than usual, and Kenoh who was scowling), came out to stand on the sides, while the GHC champion, Kaito Kiyomiya and Naomichi Marufuji, came to stand in the ring. A bright white light shone on them. There were no speeches made, it was all purely symbolic.

It wasn't announced at the show, but very sadly Wally Yamaguchi (who worked for Noah for a period of time), passed away today. Expect Noah to do a memorial at the next show.

MATCH ONE
Kenoh, Hajime Ohara, Hitoshi Kumano & Kinya Okada vs Hi69, YO-HEY, Seiya Morohashi & Junta Miyawaki.

A dense match, with a fist bump between Kenoh and Ohara (just like the old days when they were both junior heavyweights and teamed in a tag known as "Kenohara").

Kenoh was the first winner in the new ring, but this meant very little to him evidently, as rather than stay with the others to celebrate, he left immediately after the pin and stamped to the back.

WINNER: Kenoh with diving footstamp on Junta Miyawaki (5 minutes and 45 seconds)

MATCH TWO
7 match series
Yoshiki Inamura vs Maybach Taniguchi

Taniguchi came to the ring in the usual leather jacket and holding the Sasumata.
Inamura worked hard, but ultimately, he could not overcome.

WINNER: Maybach Taniguchi with the Zwei Bomb (4 minutes and 5 seconds)

MATCH THREE
Akitoshi Saito, Shiro Koshinaka & Masao Inoue vs 50 Funky Powers (Mohammed Yone & Quiet Storm) & Mitsuya Nagai.

Mitsuya Nagai came out wearing flashing disco Yone type glasses.
This would not be the only time in the evening when Nagai found himself doing something insane (or with someone insane, but more on that later).  However, Nagai's euphoria did not last, as he became angry about losing and yelled at 50 Funky Powers "Why didn't you come and help me?"

WINNER: Shiro Koshinaka with the diving hip attack on Mitsuya Nagai (7 minutes and 18 seconds)

MATCH FOUR
Takashi Sugiura vs KAZMA SAKAMOTO

Takashi Sugiura came out to a smoke machine, which made him look even more like an endoskeleton emerging from the SKYNET produce line.

KAZMA had said that he would be bringing friends, and so he turned up with NOSAWA Rongai.
NOSAWA, however, didn't get involved in the match and took a chair and watched.

It was a solid match, and at the end KAZMA and Sugiura shook hands.

Winner: Takashi Sugiura via chokehold and ref stoppage (8 minutes and 1 second)

Noah had announced on Friday the 8th that they would be making an "important announcement" at the event. This had let loose a flurry of speculation ranging from KENTA announcing his return, to KENTA physically returning, to someone retiring, to a freelancer signing. It was actually none of those things.

There were actually three announcements made.

The first one was Mitsuya Nagai coming down to the ring (minus the funky glasses, but he was soon to replace them with something else), and said that he wanted a partner who would, shake things up to speak for Global Tag League. He also told a woman in the crowd to, "shut up you old bag".
Then, the battle damaged Revolutionary Hero, Atsushi Kotoge appeared (carrying a Paisley patterned shawl) .
Kotoge announced that he would be returning to the ring in April, he would team with Nagai.
Nagai looked at first like he couldn't quite believe it, and put up his hands as if to say "No...not you..no".
Then Kotoge babbled something about doing it for the justice of Noah.
Nagai capitulated, and Kotoge put the paisley shawl on him.
One fan said, "Surely, this isn't the "important news"
Picture

Noah then made a more serious announcement, that they will run the following shows:

16th September - Osaka Prefecture First Gymnasium (aka Osaka First Arena)
2nd November - Sumo Hall

This is an incredibly huge step for Noah.

Finally, Kenta Kobashi came out and made a speech to the crowd, asking everyone to support Noah, and along with both the new  and the old fans, we can build a new Noah.
He will also be doing special guest commentary for G+ when they broadcast the 17th April show on April 20th and show on the 28th May Korakuen Hall, which will go out live.

MATCH FIVE
GHC JUNIOR HEAVYWEIGHT TAG TITLE CHALLENGE
Yoshinari Ogawa & Kotaro Suzuki vs Tadasuke & HAYATA.

YO-HEY came out to second Ogawa & Suzuki. Tadasuke and HAYATA did not wait for the bell to sound before they attacked, and HAYATA'S leg was attacked straight away by Suzuki.

For a man of his age (52) Ogawa kept pace with the much younger guys in the match. Age has not dimmed Ogawa's capacity for an inner scanner, which somehow knows where to attack on a person. He took one of HAYATA'S shoes off, and applied a submission.
It is well known that HAYATA has a low pain threshold and doesn't do well with submission moves (although he has done hardcore wrestling), and he tapped.

WINNER: Yoshinari Ogawa with the foot lock on HAYATA (11 minutes and 36 seconds)

MATCH SIX
GHC JUNIOR HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH
Daisuke Harada vs Minoru Tanaka.

"This match should be amazing"
Picture

Minoru Tanaka debuted new ring wear, and a new move (I am not sure quite what this was), in an incredibly amazing match. The crowd were on their feet screaming, and their stamping echoing throughout the arena

With this win, Minoru Tanaka has now held the junior belts in All Japan, New Japan and Noah.

WINNER: Minoru Tanaka with the fireball splash (21 minutes and 36 seconds)

MATCH SEVEN
GHC Heavyweight tag title match
AXIZ (Go Shiozaki and Katsuhiko Nakajima) VS Eddie Edwards and Masa Kitamiya.

"This is hell"

At the start of the match, Nakajima menaced Kitamiya by getting in his face.
Kenta Kobashi was on commentary.
Picture
There was a huge Shiozaki vs Edwards chopfest, where Shiozaki managed to rip through Edward's t-shirt, and then Nakajima got in the ring and kicked Edwards as he bounced back from Nakajima kicking him.

Later in the match, Masa Saito put Nakajima in the prison lock.
Eddie Edwards also did a Frankensteiner to Go Shiozaki...of the ramp.

WINNER: Katsuhiko Nakajima with the Vertical Spike on Masa Kitamiya (21 minutes)

After the match, Go Shiozaki went to shake hands with Kenta Kobashi, who was at ringside doing commentary.

MATCH EIGHT
GHC Heavyweight title.
Kaito Kiyomiya vs Naomichi Marufuji

Noah's Future vs Noah's Symbol
Picture

Kaito Kiyomiya debuted a new (and first) robe, it was an odd mixture of Mitsuharu Misawa, Tiger Mask Misawa, a yeti, a chicken and a Final Fantasy character.

Despite his saying that he would, Kenoh did not come out to second either Marufuji or Kiyomiya.

Fans were actually quite scared of this Marufuji, as he looked cold and was sadistic to Kiyomiya, but Kiyomiya hung on in there. Now that he's getting older (and I think has finally realized he has to change his style), Marufuji is using new submission techniques.

The match was off from the moment the bell rang.

WINNER: Kaito Kiyomiya with the Tiger Suplex Hold (32 minutes and 28 seconds)

After the match, Kiyomiya called out Kenoh.
Kenoh (who should have been coming out to "March of The Empire") came stamping out and got in the ring.
Kiyomiya told him that the new Noah needs him.
Kenoh, less than gracious, said he doesn't appreciate being called out by an "asshole boy", but he understood what he meant.
However, Kiyomiya wasn't offering him a title match, he asked him to team with him at Global Tag League, win the titles, and together they would create a new Noah (this will pit them against AXIZ)
Kenoh accepted and told the crowd, "WE are going to take you assholes where you want to go, Sumo Hall is good, but where do you really want to go?"
The crowd replied, "The Budokan".
Picture
Kenoh left the ring as Kiyomiya thanked the fans for coming, and green ribbons fell from the ceiling with the words "Mitsuharu Misawa-san, you will forever be in our hearts as we set out on a new voyage" on them.

After the ribbons had fallen and the fans left, the arena faded to black with a green spotlight shining on the ring.
Misawa might have left us in 2009, but his presence was felt not only in Noah, but it seemed in other parts of Puro as well, with #Tiger-Driver 91 hashtag trending, thanks to both Kaito Kiyomiya, Noah's new show, and Kota Ibushi using it.

(NOAH) EVENT RECAP ~ SHIMIZU MARINE BUILDING, (SUNDAY MARCH 3RD 2019, "NAVIGATION FOR THE PROGRESS", FINAL NIGHT)

3/3/2019

Comments

Picture

"The wrestlers, the staff, the fans...the green ring and the logo are full of memories for everyone"

Outside of the two Misawa memorial shows each June, this will be the last time Noah will ever use the green ring on a regular basis. Due to the changes in the company, and to symbolize the fact that the logo will also change, the Noah trucks covered up the logo during the event today by hanging wrestler banners over them. During the intermission, fan club members had the chance to take pictures in the ring for the last time.

I am afraid I don't have too much information coming out of today's show, but I have managed to put together what I have been able to.
Picture

MATCH ONE
Yoshinari Ogawa & Kotaro Suzuki vs Tadasuke and Kinya Okada.

Yoshinari Ogawa came out wearing his round lens sunglasses (which make him look sinister).
Tadasuke and Kimya Okada did Tadasuke's entry (I don't think Okada could pull off the headbanging though, so he didn't do it, and the air guitar too).

Tadasuke acted like a proud dad after Kinya Okada got the win, and had a big grin on his face as if looking to say "well, how about that?"
Okada looked smug.

WINNER: Kinya Okada with a double lariat on Yoshinari Ogawa and Kotaro Suzuki resulting in a count out (8 minutes and 54 seconds)

Picture

MATCH TWO
SEVEN MATCH SERIES
Yoshiki Inamura vs Akitoshi Saito

Said to be a "hard fought battle", but ultimately, Akitoshi Saito prevailed.

WINNER: Akitoshi Saito with a backdrop (8 minutes and 16 seconds)

MATCH THREE
Kenoh & YO-HEY vs The Backbreakers

YO-HEY imitated Kenoh's pose and then did it at the end too, turning to all four corners of the ring, after Kenoh had stamped off after the match.

WINNER: Kenoh with the diving footstamp on Hitoshi Kumano (9 minutes and 39 seconds)
Picture

MATCH FOUR
Takashi Sugiura & 50 Funky Powers (Mohammed Yone & Quiet Storm) vs Maybach Taniguchi, Masao Inoue and Junta Miyawaki.

Although being on opposing teams, Sugi appeared to have been telling Inoue to hurry up, especially when he was waiting for Yone to get up so he could lariat him.
After the match Sugi attacked Inoue, and I think the ref may have had to pull him off of him.
So much for gratitude.

WINNER: Mohammed Yone with the Funky Buster bomb on Masao Inoue (13 minutes and 18 seconds)

MATCH FIVE
AXIZ (Katsuhiko Nakajima & Go Shiozaki) vs Masa Kitamiya & Mitsuya Nagai.

Not really too much information coming out of this one, except that Nagai attacked Shiozaki with the iron barrier.

WINNER: Go Shiozaki with the lariat on Mitsuya Nagai (16 minutes)
Picture

MATCH SIX
Kaito Kiyomiya, Daisuke Harada & HAYATA vs Naomichi Marufuji, Minoru Tanaka & Hi69

The final match on the green mat
Marufuji marked which arm and leg he was going to attack of Kiyomiya's today by hitting the arm, and kicking the leg

After the match, Kaito Kiyomiya (who was the last person to win on the green mat) made a somewhat uninspired speech, saying that on the 10th March there will be a new Noah, he wants to beat Marufuji in Yokohama, and show everyone a new scene.

WINNER: Kaito Kiyomiya with a variant of the chicken wing facelock on Hi69 (20 minutes)

Attendance: 301 (full house)
