Since I missed last night due to being a working stooge of the man, tonight you get two for one! You’ll get a Recap of Extreme Rules (I was there) and Raw! (I was not there) There is also the usual Smackdown Live review in 2000 words or less but you already knew that.

Extreme Rules 2018 basically had no legs to stand on going into it. It’s a minor PPV before the all-important SummerSlam. My wife and I made the journey up to Pittsburgh since its about an hour and a half away. While the show wasn’t close to selling out there were quite a few people there and most of them were pretty fired up. I noticed one thing before we actually got into the arena though…while in line, I was talking to two locals and they started going on about things on the dirt sheets. Now, I know we all get some information from them in one way or another so I didn’t judge one bit. What I did notice was that, a majority of the people I talk to, went into the show thinking it was going to be crap based off of what they’d seen online. I was a little irritated by this but I got over it once we got into the arena. The show started off with Cien Almas vs Sin Cara. The crowd, pre-show crowd that is, was kinda into it just because things were happening. They seemed more inclined to boo Almas than cheer Sin Cara. Fun match though. New Day and Sanity was next. The crowd woke up but the match itself left more to be desired. The giant powerbomb spot was really cool but it looked like Kofi hurt himself on the landing. B-Team got a huge pop when they entered and an even larger one when they won. From there things kinda mellowed out with Finn vs. Corbin. I thought the match was good but people around me started to get a little marky about it. The Asuka vs. Carmella match fell flat as it was mostly about James Ellsworth doing stupid shit in the shark cage. My favorite moment of the night was Shinsuke Nakamura finally winning a damn belt. The crowd was down too. Randy Orton coming out made everyone lose their minds. Things got louuuud at this point. Braun vs. Kevin Owens was an excellent match and the spot off the top of the cage was incredible but kinda scary to watch in person. Props to KO for being awesome. Dbry and Kane vs. The Buldgeons was a decent match as well, especially considering Kane was injured and fought in an air cast. Roman and Lashley was plagued by boos. So much so that it became impossible to hear anything else. Nia Jax vs. Alexa Bliss was a meh match that only was brightened by Ronda Rousey coming out to save the day…kinda. Jax still lost. Rusev vs. AJ Styles kind of surprised me. A for not being last, and B for the amount of athleticism show by Rusev despite his leg being hurt. Not sure if it was story or not because he landed awkwardly and was limping the rest of the time. Finally we get to the Iron Man Match. Rollins and Ziggler put on a pretty good match, worthy of a main event but, by this time, the crowd had lost some interest. The clock didn’t help either since everyone wanted to count down from 10. I started to get really annoyed at this point. There also was a kid dancing in front of me everytime the clock counted down. I wanted to chokeslam him but hurting kids isn’t cool apparently. The match ended with a tie, kinda as expected, then Uncle Kurt came out to make a sudden death round! But that ended about 2 seconds later after some interference from Drew McIntyre. It was a confusing ending to something that should have blown the damn roof off. That was Extreme Rules in a nutshell.
Raw, most of which I watched this morning, rang about the same tone with me as Extreme Rules. Good matches, the crowd seemed into a fair amount of it, and a confusing ending. Here’s a recap:
-          Paul Heyman came out after Uncle Kurt tried to strip Brock Lesnar of this title. Everyone who lays claim to the Universal title showed up to demand to be #1 contender. Kurt made Two…that’s right, count em! Two Triple threats match to determine the winner.
-          The B-team beat Ascension to remain your Raw tag team champions. Deleter of Worlds challenges them to a rematch next week.
-          There was more tension between Sasha Banks and Bayley. Sasha told Bayley she loved her. MAXIMUM CONFUSION!
-          Ziggler came out to gloat, Bobby Roode came out to challenge, match ensued. Ziggler wins
-          Alexa Bliss came out to gloat, Ronda runs down, beats her up, gets a title shot at SummerSlam. I don’t understand but im okay with it.
-          Titus World Wide gets murdered by Authors of Pain.
-          Oh, Roman Reigns and Bobby Lashley won their respective Triple Threat matches. Next week they fight again….
Raw in a nutshell. As you can see by the figure above, Raw is a convoluted mess. Its 5 minutes until Smackdown so im going to get cheez its.

Smackdown Live is coming to you live from somewhere in Pennsylvania

Jeff Hardy starts out SDL coming down to the ring. He cuts a very Brother Nero promo about Shinsuke Nakamura and the US Title. Then he leaves. Shinsuke watches on TV and Renee Young comes up. He says Jeff is a Sad Clown and gloats about his US Title.

AJ Styles makes his way down to the ring. He has a match against Andrade Cien Almas!

AJ Styles vs. Andrade “Cien” Almas

The two lock up right away with Almas hitting AJ with an arm drag. There is another lock up and another arm drag. Almas is showing his aggressive side with some strong, slow offense. Almas gets in a nasty headlock and AJ cant seem to get out of it. AJ pushes off and goes to attack but Almas and Vega to the rope relaxing thing that the do and AJ looks perplexed. Commercial time. Back and AJ is in control but Almas hits a big drop kick and stops AJ’s momentum. Andrade is really showing up to this match and is massively impressive. Almas goes for the running knees but AJ hopes up and hits the over the shoulder neck breaker. He goes for a Styles Clash but Almas reverses, goes for a Phenomenal Forearm but Almas is there and knocks him down. Almas goes for a Moonsault but AJ moves then goes another backflip and goes for the pin! What a series! Almas goes for a suplex but AJ jumps over and hits a kick to the head. These two are battling! Almas goes for some sort of move while on the top rope but AJ hits a pele kick! AJ goes to attack but gets stuck in the rope. Almas hits a double stomp then the double running knees! AJ kicks! Holy shit! Almas sets up for the Hammerlock DDT but AJ turns it into a Calf Crusher. What a Match!
Winner by Submission: AJ Styles

Backstage is Aiden English and Lana. He apologizes for taking that damn turnbuckle off on Extreme Rules.

Mandy Rose vs. Becky Lynch

Becky and Mandy lock up early and Mandy delivers a big right. She hits the ropes but Becky is there and starts giving it to Mandy. Mandy ends up getting the upperhand again with little fanfare from the crowd. Mandy gets Becky in a modified leg/arm submission. Becky breaks out but Mandy is there with a big knee. The match picks up and pretty much ends with Becky hitting the Becsploder and DisArmHer for the win.

Winner by Submission: Becky Lynch

Becky gets on the mic to thank the crowd for some reason. She calls out Carmella because she deserves a fucking shot.

Backstage is Paige and Carmella. They talk trash to each other. Paige makes Becky Lynch vs Carmella at Smackdown next week.

Locker Room time with Tye Dillinger and R-Truth?! Tye vs Samoa Joe is next!

Tye Dillinger vs. Samoa Joe

Tye comes out swinging on Joe. Good idea buddy. Joe rolls out of the ring and Tye follows. Tye has a few moments of offense before Joe just throws him into the ringpost. Back in the ring Joe continues to kill Tye. He talks to him then locks Tye into the Cochina clutch. Tye cant even tap.

Winner by Submission: Samoa Joe

The Miz holds a funeral for Team Hell No. He talks a whole bunch of shit about both of them. Daniel Bryan’s music hits and he sneak attacks Miz. Miz runs away annnnd that’s about it.

Backstage is New Day getting pumped for Kofi’s match against Eric Young

Kofi Kingston vs. Eric Young

Kofi get the upperhand right away, getting Young in a couple of holds and flipping around like Kofi does. Young doesn’t seem too phased by it until Kofi hits a big dropkick. Kofi seems to have an answer for everything Eric Young has to offer, eventually sending him flying outside. Commercial time. Back from commercial and Eric Young is in control outside the ring. New Day and Sanity are dangerously close to one another. Eric methodically works over Kofi. Things end up back in the ring with Young still in control, he goes for a big elbow drop but Kofi moves last second. Kofi hits a Boom drop  goes for a trouble in Paradise but Young reverses. The action picks up as Kofi launches Young as he was climbing the ring post. Young rolls out of the ring and Kofi flies onto Sanity. He hits a SOS in the ring but Young kicks. Young tries to attack but Kofi reverses again. Sanity tries to interfere but the New Day stops it. Killian Dane throws Woods into Kofi like a rag doll and Eric hits a Wheelbarrow neckbreaker for the win!

Winner by pinfall: Eric Young

Backstage, Shinsuke is staring at his US title belt.

Jeff Hardy vs. Shinsuke Nakamura

Jeff comes out of the gate smacking Nakamura down. Shinsuke goes for another Peenshasa but Jeff moves. Things go outside and Jeff flies, slamming Shinsuke. Jeff throws him back in the ring and goes for the Swanton but Shinsuke moves! Commercial time! Back and Shinsuke is walking around the ring with Jeff down and looking beaten. Shinsuke hits some big kick. Jeff blocks on but gets kicked with the other leg. Shinsuke tries to pin multiple times. He then gets Jeff in a headlock but Jeff starts to power out and is stopped quickly with a big clothesline. Shinsuke chokes Jeff in the corner, bringing him to the middle of the ring with Jeff in a headlock. Jeff finally gets a break as Shinsuke misses a big knee. Jeff slams Nak into all 4 corners then starts beating him down. Jeff takes his shirt off and goes for a Twist of Fate but Shinsuke hits a big dropkick and stops that shit. Nak takes over as we go to another commercial. We’re back and Shinsuke and Jeff are battling it out. Jeff hits a Whisper in the Wind but cant put Nakamura away. Jeff strikes again right away and regains his momentum but Shinsuke holds on. Shin gets his moment, hits the big corner knees then goes to pin but Jeff kicks. Excellent match between these two. Lots of fun. Shin hits a single leg back breaker and a running knee on Jeff but Hardy kicks at 2! Shinsuke continues the attack and sets up for a Kinshasa. Jeff hits a sling blade and goes for a Swanton but Nak stops that quickly. Jeff hits a Twist of Fate and goes for the Swanton and the pin but Randy Orton comes OUTTANOWHERE and attacks Jeff Hardy!

Winner by DQ: Jeff Hardy

Randy Orton proceeds to beat the shit out of Jeff but Hardy gets some random offense in. It doesn’t last for long as Randy continues to assault Jeff. Shinsuke looks on, slightly confused, from the otherside of the ring. Randy pulls the hole in Jeff’s ear really hard in a really cringe worthy moment. Wow. That was much but still gets the point across. Officials come from the back to try and stop it but Randy keeps beating Jeff down.

Well Smackdown was better than RAW this week. Wow. I don’t have much to say. That’s all we have this week. Check out the site for wrestling stuff, my twitter @buuurch1 for wrestling stuff, and as always, Take Care!
