Smackdown Live! It’s time to do this! Tonight’s biggest attraction for me is the meeting between the Miz and Daniel Bryan. The tension between these two has been intense for a few years now and it is more that wonderful to see it finally amount to something.

Smackdown starts off with The Miz! He lets the crowd boo for a minute before he speaks. He says he’s back on Smackdown Live and now Smackdown Live is the A show. He says something missing. It’s a title. The one his guest relinquished 3 years ago. The IC title. He plugs the Greatest Royal Rumble. He says that’s in 3 days and this is now, and now is the moment the world has been waiting for. The crowd chants Yes! He gives more hints as to who it might be! He says he’s surprised because when his daughter was born his hatred for Daniel Bryan went away. He plugs some show he has on USA network.  He says he knew he had to change when his daughter was born and he had to be a better man. He calls out Daniel. Instead we get Big Cass. He’s dressed in a suit. He walks down to the ring. Miz asks if he can help him. Cass wants Miz to interview him. Cass says nobody cares about Daniel Bryan. He downplays Bryans injury. Cass says he waited for 7 months to come back and all anyone cares about was Daniel Bryan. He is living in the shadow of that “ordinary, little man”. Miz says he doesn’t need help with Bryan if that’s what he’s out here for. They trade insults and get face to face in the middle of the ring. Cass threatens Miz and Miz starts to back down. Cass rants about how his life was hard until he grew and how he beat the hell out of everyone that pushed him around. He says Bryan reminds him when he was a little guy and he despises him for that. He said he didn’t have to wrestle all around the world, he went straight to the WWE. He says he’s valuable. Cass says he’ll retire Daniel Bryan again. Cass drops the mic and leaves.

Backstage, Daniel Bryan is beaten on the floor. Womp Womp

Back from commercial we have the IIconics. They’re saying how good they look in the ring. They start to talk about Becky Lynch and mock her. Corny but funny. They turn their attention to Asuka. They start to talk to trash about her and then Charlotte. Then go on to say they’re better than Auska. Lots of corny jokes here kids. Becky interrupts, followed closely by the Empress of Tomorrow, Asuka. She does her awkward 3 minute strip tease and we get things started.

Becky Lynch and Asuka vs. The IIconics

Commercial to start things out! Back from commercial and its Peyton and Becky. Becky is in control. She hits a Becksploder out of the corner and Peyton goes flying but gets the tag. Billie brings it to Becky and things turn in the IIconics favor. Billie taunts Asuka, to which Asuka gets in the ring but its sent back out. Becky gets her comeback and tags Asuka. Asuka isn’t having any of the IIconics nonsense and starts wrecking Peyton Royce. Becky gets the tag. They hit a cool looking tag sequence, then Becky accidentally bumps Asuka. This leads to Billie getting the drop of Becky and Peyton gets the pin, with an assist from the ring ropes.

Winners by pinfall: The IIconics

Renee Young is outside Shane’s Office. AJ Styles comes out all smiles. He’s pumped to get his revenge on Shinsuke tonight, and on Friday in Saudi Arabia. He says Shinsuke will bring Rusev day and he has his own partners and it’ll be “Too Sweet”.

Backstage we get the Usos and Naomi. Jimmy makes Naomi promise he wont come out there this week. She says she wont but she warns him that Harper and Rowan are dangerous. Jimmy makes a couple of jokes but says he’ll be alright.

Rowan w/ Harper vs. Jimmy Uso

Jimmy is dwarfed be the man giant that is Rowan. Rowan starts out with a giant dropkick. He proceeds to beat down Jimmy. They get distracted by Jey. Jimmy sends Rowan out of the ring. Jimmy jumps out but Rowan catches him, but Jimmy gets away. Back outside the ring Rowan murders Jimmy with a cross body splash. Just before Rowan goes to put the nail in the coffin, Naomi’s music hits. She dances around for a minute, even though her husband is about to be sacrifices. Jey attacks Harper out of nowhere. Jimmy gets the drop on Rowan and the pin.

Winner by pinfall and confusion: Jimmy Uso

In the ring we have the radiant Renee Young for the contract signing between Carmella and Charlotte. Carmella steals the mic away right from the start and says Renee is disrespectful, along with the crowd. She is mad she was introduced her, the Champion, first. Carmella says its her kingdom now and she’s everyone’s champion. She complains more about not getting respect. They play her highlight reel from last week. She wants to play it again but Charlotte has shit to do and comes down to the ring. Charlotte sits at the table and Carmella shows off her belt before doing so. Charlotte signs the contract and WOOOS at Carmella. Carmella holds the belt in front of her face and then Charlotte slams her face into the table.

Backstage is random interviewer at the dressing room of Shinsuke Nakamura. Aiden English opens the door and says NO Interviews!

Shelton Benjamin vs Jeff Hardy

Jeff makes his way to the ring but his music stops and out comes Randy Orton! Now it appears Randal Keith will face off against a mad looking Shelton Benjamin. They lock up in the center of the ring and Shelton pushes Orton to the corner. It’s a pretty even match after two quick lock ups. Randy goes for a quick RKO but Benjamin isn’t no fool and pushes him away. Randy starts to get a little moment but Shelton pulls Randy into the ropes and takes a few hard kicks to the chest on the outside. Orton is down. Commercial time. After our break Shelton is still in control. Orton hits a quick suplex and gets hit momentum back, hitting the powerslam, mid-rope DDT, and other fun Randy Orton moves. The crowd is hyped for Randal. Shelton slinks out of the ring but Orton is not far behind. They get close to Jeff and Jeff backs away. Back in the ring a masked man runs in, turns out it was Sunil Singh. Randy RKOs him, then Shelton capitalizes on it and gets the win.

Winner by pinfall and outside assistance: Shelton Benjamin

Jeff looks mildly worried.

Backstage is the NEW DAY! They show off the Book of Booty. The Bar show up and interrupt their party. They talk about the GRR.

The Good Brothers and Uncle Alan are backstage. Hoots of a feather Hoot together, amirite?!
Backstage is Daniel Bryan and Renee Young. Daniel talks about his attack from earlier. Daniel is getting his revenge at Backlash!

AJ Styles and The Club vs. Shinsuke Nakamura and Rusev Day

*Nakamura has a new theme song. It’s in Japanese and I love it.

Styles and Nakamura start things off. Shinsuke instantly walks over and tags in Aiden English who proceeds to get some hands from AJ, then Gallows, then Anderson, then Styles, then Gallows, then Machine Gun. Rusev runs in the ring to save his bud but gets clobbered. The Club isn’t putting up with any shit tonight people! Back from commercial and AJ comes in swinging. Rusev hits a matchka kick on AJ and Aiden is tagged in. He, pale skin and all, puts AJ in a headlock and slows down the pace of thing. We get another commercial, less than two minutes after the last one. Its for the Greatest Royal Rumble but I mean damn WWE. Back to the match and we have Shinsuke kicking AJ in the chest. Rusev tags in and continues to punish Uncle Alan. Aiden English gets the tag and controls things for a minute but Styles breaks free. Rusev tags in but catches a Pele Kick. Doc Gallows comes in and powers up, running through Aiden. Gallows rocks English and almost gets the pin. There was a quick tag and Shinsuke ends up getting the drop on Gallows, hitting a Kinshasa for the win.
Winner by pinfall and kicking: Shinsuke Nakamura and Rusev Daaaaay

Styles comes out of nowhere and starts wrecking Shinsuke but Nakamura, like that old familiar song, hits AJ in his baby maker. Shinsuke goes for a Kinshasa but Machine Gun Anderson jumps in front of him. Shinsuke looks confused but grabs Anderson and sets him up. He kicks Andersons face off right in front of Uncle Alan. Shinsuke looks extra crazy here.

That ends Smackdown for us folks. If I had to pick between the two, Id put Smackdown Live on top this week over Raw. There weren’t too many matches but it ended well so I cant complain. Check out more of our content on the site, check me out on twitter @buuurch1, and as always, Take Care!
