Noah held their first show of the Reiwa era "Navigation To A New Era" in Fuji Messe, Fuji City, Shizuoka today. The event was not connected with Global Tag League.
The venue is beautiful, especially on days when there is a blue spring sky with the backdrop of Mount Fuji behind it. The famous mountain was particularly picturesque today with the clouds swirling round it and swathing it like cloth. Inside the venue seemed to be also the colors of the mountain with blues, green and white hues coming out in pictures.
However, travel to the show was difficult for both Noah and some fans as due to heavy traffic the show was delayed for ten minutes to allow the roster to get changed, and get taped. After the grueling schedule of Global Tag League (four days work with one day off between shows), everyone looked tired, and I can imagine the waiting room was full of roster members asleep before their turn.
The card has undergone another change due to YO-HEY being hospitalized after the final night of Noah's two events in Yokohama with an injury to one of his lungs. Marufuji had said he was looking forward to the match with Sugiura, but it couldn't be helped. The card today was unusual as it threw together wrestlers who wouldn't normally team, but out of disorder, came some interesting future angles.
Full and excited crowd, who remained enthusiastic right from very first match to the end.
50 Funky Powers (Mohammed Yone & Quiet Storm) vs Hi69 & Minoru Tanaka
WINNER: Mohammed Yone with the Funky Buster Bomb on Hi69 (11 minutes and 6 seconds)
Akitoshi Saito vs Maybach Taniguchi
The match began with what one fan called a "tense calm"
WINNER: Maybach Taniguchi with the Maybach Press (12 minutes and 6 seconds)
After the match, Taniguchi said he was going to "reset and reboot" himself.
Kenoh & Masao Inoue vs THE TOUGH (Masa Kitamiya & Yoshiki Inamura)
WINNER: Masa Kitamiya with the Prison Lock on Masao Inoue (14 minutes and 4 seconds)
Kenoh said that they had hungry eyes, Kiyomiya's eyes were that of the company, and such a person was not good. Kenoh was looking for someone who had the hunger in them...and he would give his answer in the future.
Takashi Sugiura vs Hajime Ohara
This match was thrown together due to the card change, but there was to be an interesting outcome. It is a very rare card, but one that people were looking forward to very much.
In a match that was described as "hard and intense", Sugiura also decided at one point he was going to imitate Harada's pose when he sits like a student in gym class.
After being pretty much destroyed by Noah's resident cyborg (who at one point seemed to be moving at the speed of light), Hajime Ohara (who had put Sugiura in the Mui Bien and despite everything that Sugiura dealt out to him, refused to give up) knelt before Sugiura after the match and asked that he be allowed to join "The Sugiura Army".
WINNER: Takashi Sugiura with the Olympic Slam (12 minutes and 49 seconds)
Stinger (Yoshinari Ogawa & Kotaro Suzuki) & Naomichi Marufuji vs RATELS (Daisuke Harada, Tadasuke & HAYATA).
Yoshinari Ogawa has been wrestling in three of Japan's eras, he spent his early career in All Japan during the Showa Era (he entered the dojo very young at only about 16 or 17 years old), Noah was born during the Heisei era in 2000, and now Japan is in the Reiwa era.
There was no jostling on the ringpost today to do Tadasuke's pose (or Harada turning his back on Marufuji as RATELS did their handshake), as Marufuji was in opposition to them. You could tell from the look on his face, however, that Harada is loving his feud with Marufuji.
Marufuji, true to his new persona of winding people up, climbed on the turnbuckle in Harada's corner and raised his fist in Tadasuke's pose. He and Harada started off the match, and then squared up at the end as a brawl broke out.
WINNER: Kotaro Suzuki with the Tiger Driver on Tadasuke (21 minutes and 5 seconds)
Kaito Kiyomiya, Atsushi Kotoge & Junta Miyawaki vs AXIZ (Katsuhiko Nakajima & Go Shiozaki) & Hitoshi Kumano.
Atsushi Kotoge was dressed in gold color today with fans calling him the "Gold Revolution".
Junta Miyawaki fought with such "fever" that a fan said that they believed that he could win at Korakuen on the 4th.
At the end of the match (which was described as "insane", Hitoshi Kumano squeezed in between AXIZ as they did their pose which was reminscent of TMDK (Go Shiozaki later called him "the bear in AXIZ" "KuMAXIZ")
WINNER: Katsuhiko Nakajima with the Vertical Spike on Junta Miyawaki (20 minutes and 41 seconds)
"The era has changed from Heisei to Reiwa. We should be able to rise higher than anyone can imagine. So, like Mount Fuji here, we want to be noble and strong. AXIZ are at the top and at the center"
Katsuhiko Nakajima addressing the crowd after the match
