Noah started the first of their two nights in Osaka today. The 16th saw them in Osaka World Pavilion (not a great turnout night, and they have done better) and the 17th will see them, (with three big matches), at the Edion Arena.
Akitoshi Saito was on autograph duty today, and it was going to be a night of surprises. when some surprising winning streaks were ended, and others continued.
YO-HEY vs Maybach Taniguchi
YO-HEY was destroyed in a matter of minutes by Maybach Taniguchi, who was both bigger and stronger (YO-HEY is 5'7 and weighs 70kg, where as Taniguchi is 6ft and weighs 105kgs).
WINNER: Maybach Taniguchi with the Zwei Bomb (3 minutes and 58 seconds)
Kotaro Suzuki, Yoshinari Ogawa & Junta Miyawaki vs HAYATA, Daisuke Harada & Tadasuke
This will be Kotaro Suzuki & HAYATA 'S last match before title match on the 17th November at the Edion Arena, so far they are one and one, both have had the defeat over each other at some point during the build up. After the match there was the usual circling and stare out.
Fans are very much on the side of HAYATA (who is not Noah born unlike Suzuki who is seen as an outsider, despite being Noah born) to bring the championship home.
WINNER: Tadasuke with the lariat on Junta Miyawaki (7 minutes and 40 seconds)
Takashi Sugiura, Naomichi Marufuji, Akitoshi Saito, Hitoshi Kumano & Masao Inoue vs Kenoh, Masa Kitamiya, Hi69, Minoru Tanaka & Yoshiki Inamura.
"Marufuji vs Kenoh, the fight of these two is interesting"
This is a VERY rare match up of heavyweights and junior heavyweights, plus one very green rookie. Its rare that the two sides meet, let alone the team makeup, but Inamura I'm sure was happy to be in the ring with his hero (Takashi Sugiura), plus it gives his elders a chance to assess him.
Despite his win over him, Kenoh is still determined to show Marufuji who is boss.
Marufuji, (who still has both shoulders braced), looked like he has had enough of Kenoh.
As this was not a Global League match (when the champion competes like any other athlete and is subject to the same rules), Takashi Sugiura bought the belt to the ring with him today.
WINNER: Akitoshi Saito with the Suicidees on Yoshiki Inamura (13 minutes and 42 seconds)
Kaito Kiyomiya vs Cody Hall
According to the Noah website, this is a "Noah Junior League" match! (Its been a long time since either were junior heavyweights)
Kaito Kiyomiya was back in the green hue which doesn't suit him , but this was a squash match with Kiyomiya on a loosing streak after the fluke spazz out win against Takashi Sugiura.
Squash match it may have been, but Kiyomiya demonstrated how strong he was, by trying to pin Cody with the Tiger Suplex.
WINNER: Cody Hall with the chokeslam (5 minutes and 9 seconds)
Mohammed Yone vs Kazusada Higuchi
Kazusada Higuchi doesn't strike me as someone who appreciates disco, but Mohammed Yone, the veteran of the Global League, and the only person who has been in every single league since it began in 2010, ended Higuchi's winning streak.
WINNER: Mohammed Yone with the Kinmeat Buster (7 minutes and 40 seconds)
Mitsuya Nagai vs Kohei Sato
Mitsuya Nagai has had a rough week, its undeniable, but there was a silver lining on this cloud, when went for a different strategy than everyone else who had so far faced Kohei Sato, and instead of going for kicks, he took him down with submission moves and thus ended his winning streak.
WINNER: Mitsuya Nagai via submission with the Nagai Rock (13 minutes and 7 seconds)
Go Shiozaki vs Atsushi Kotoge
"The Revolution has happened!"
Go Shiozaki said he was not going to lose to "the cape".
I think Atsushi Kotoge must have seasonal cloaks, especially now that the weather is turning colder, as the high collared Dracula cloak came out today, and the purple one was hung at ringside.
Atsushi Kotoge ended Go Shiozaki's winning streak, and maintained his own (Kotoge has now lost two and one two), to the delight of the hometown crowd.
WINNER: Atsushi Kotoge with the La Esuparuda (13 minutes and 42 seconds)
Katsuhiko Nakajima vs Quiet Storm
A fierce fight today, that ended with Nakajima kicking Quiet Storm into a knock out and avenging his loss last year in Global League 2017.
Nakajima got on the microphone afterwards (I am afraid I don't know what he said)
WINNER: Katsuhiko Nakajima with a knockout kick (12 minutes and 33 seconds)
