(NOAH) EVENT RECAP ~ NOAHFUL GIFT ~ 24TH DECEMBER 2018

12/24/2018

"There'll be parties for hosting
Marshmallows for toasting
And caroling out in the snow
There'll be scary ghost stories...."

Welcome to Noah's annual last event of the year "NOAHFul GIFT", where scary ghost stories will abound and haunt your nightmares to the end of time and beyond the grave, by the sheer terror of what you are about to discover.
"NOAHFul Gift" (formerly "NOAHFul Gift in Differ") is Noah's end of year show, it stopped for a few years during the dark era, partly because Noah no longer had Differ to host it in, and partly because morale was so low among the wrestlers, the fans and the staff following the disaster of the New Japan alliance and Suzuki-Gun invasion, plus there was no money and in 2017, the company almost went bankrupt.
Last year, Noah held their first one in a while, with only the Flea Market, a few pre-matches (including a RATELS four way) and the traditional costumed Battle Royale, and the flea market where the Noah wrestlers personally sold their old ring-wear and clothing. There were a few extras this year as well as the market and the costumed Battle Royale, Noah held a fan lottery to determine the singles, three way and six man tag, plus instant photo ops with Naomichi Marufuji (who naturally didn't participate due to injury) and HAYATA (who wore his cats-eye contact lenses).

Noah's set dressing consisted of a raised entryway on a platform, with a small Christmas tree on one side, and a small pyro on the other. The ring posts were also decorated with a bell decoration.

President Uchida was on hand for the event, and wore a Santa hat before it began, and then put on reindeer antlers. Masao Inoue, YO-HEY and Akitoshi Saito did the comedy video this year, it was a parody of an advert which involved YO-HEY breaking Inoue's glasses by crushing them underfoot and accidentally sitting on them. Akitoshi Saito fortunately kept his clothes on.

The referee (as well as some fans) also dressed up, and wore a Santa hat with a full face mask.
RAN sang "Over The Rainbow" for the halftime show.

A fan bought an item of Katsuhiko Nakajima's, a tank top, from the flea market, and said it smelt slightly of sweat...

There may also be a chance of today's show being recorded as a man with a tripod camera was seen, either way, we should get some clips on Battlemen and (hopefully) YouTube.

The four matches drawn by random lottery were:

1. Yoshiki Inamura vs Hi69
2. Kaito Kiyomiya vs Kinya Okada vs Kenoh
3. Tadasuke, Atsushi Kotoge & Go Shiozaki vs Junta Miyawaki, YO-HEY & Katsuhiko Nakajima

Hi69 won with the Trance Rave after 7 minutes and 33 seconds
Picture

Kaito Kiyomiya, Kenoh and Kinya Okada put on a great match.
Okada, although he was a rookie facing two GHC Heavyweight Champions, he managed to hold his own, and was voted by fans to be the MVP of the event.
At the start of the match the referee had to separate Kenoh and Kiyomiya, as Kiyomiya was holding up the belt, and Kenoh started shrieking. Kiyomiya (and it has taken him a year) has started to develop something of an attitude, as not only did he slam the microphone into Kenoh's chest (which surprised Kenoh as Kiyomiya doesn't usually stand up for himself in that way), he also betrayed Okada when the two of them ganged up against Kenoh, and he got booed when he attacked him. This was also a fortuitous pre-match as it turned out (although as it seemed so lucky, I do wonder whether Noah rigged this match to happen).

After the match, Kenoh said that Noah was foolish to put the title on a young boy with only three years experience, and he would remedy that in January 2019.

Kaito Kiyomiya won with the Boston Crab on Kinya Okada after 13 minutes and 27 seconds

In the six man tag, despite Tadasuke and YO-HEY being on opposing sides, the focus was on Atsushi Kotoge and handler, Go Shiozaki.
Kotoge handed Shiozaki his cape.
Shiozaki looked at it, thought about it, threw it aside.
Later, the cape granted magical powers (and why does this sound like I am writing a story for fanfic) as Go Shiozaki could not chop his opponent, until Kotoge handed him....the black vinyl cape.
Go Shiozaki put it on, and his powers were restored, and he could chop Nakajima.
Kotoge was thrilled out of what is left of his mind, even more so when Shiozaki started doing the revolutionary fist pump.

Katsuhiko Nakajima and YO-HEY sat in the front row of the crowd and cheered on Junta Miyawaki.

Tadasuke won with the lariat on Junta Miyawaki (12 minutes and 32 seconds)

After the match, a delighted Kotoge asked if Shiozaki was going to wear the cape from now on.
Shiozaki looked like you do when your grandmother asks why you aren't wearing that Christmas jumper she made you.

Each match had an atmosphere of the next generation of Noah in them and included hardly any vets in it (except maybe perhaps Hi69, who has been wrestling for 18 years).
Picture

After the interval there was the hysterically funny costumed Battle Royale, and even the ring announcer, Ally, dressed up to read the rules of the competition (he came as Koshi Inaba of BZ), and it wasn't a bad likeness.

PARTICIPANTS
Santa Kitamiya: Masa Kitamita
Reindeer 1: Junta Miyawaki
Reindeer 2: Hitoshi Kumano
Serval (Kemono Friends): Kinya Okada
Keechi Ando from Baki The Grappler: Yoshiki Inamura
Urashima Tarō: Lin Dong-Xuan
Bambi-No: YO-HEY (character from a cooking manga)
Bambi-No Storm: Quiet Storm
Hi69 = Panda
Cody Hall = Jesus Christ
Sasumata: Maybach Taniguchi
Maou: Masao Inoue (a demon King from manga)
Pe Yoneyama: Mohammed Yone (parody of Japanese entertainer, Pe Hayashi)
Kotoge Mercury: Atsushi Kotoge (Freddie Mercury)
Revolutionary Cloak Hero: Akitoshi Saito
Gorilla: Takashi Sugiura
Kiki: Hajime Ohara
Heat: Minoru Tanaka
ZOZOTOWN Harada: Daisuke Harada (given Harada's penchant for dressing as people, I think this was a gentle dig at President Uchida, ZOZOTOWN are a clothing outlet)
No Face: Tadasuke
HAYATA: HAYATA (fans said it was Darth Maul)
Menso-re Oyaji: Kenoh
Kimono woman\songstress: Kaito Kiyomiya
Tuxedo Man: Yoshinari Ogawa
Eiga Dorobo\Dog: Go Shiozaki (2018 was the Year of The Dog)
Samurai: Katsuhiko Nakajima
Picture

I think Go Shiozaki's character (the same as last year, except he replaced the dogs mask for a camera lens after Katsuhiko Nakajima hunted him and took the head) is a kind of nod to the problems that Noah (and other promotions) have had about people coming to the venue and filming the event on their phone. Pictures are fine, but filming is not. If you are planning to go to a Noah show, (or any other puro event for that matter), please do not do it.

Speaking of costumes, Hi69 put more effort into his this year and evidently didn't leave it until the last moment to go out and buy it (i.e. no face paint and tights). HAYATA and Hajime Ohara came as the same as last year, and Ogawa wore a tuxedo again (although it was different from last year, and he still managed to look like Liberace).

Junta Miyawaki and Hitoshi Kumano made the cutest reindeer ever.

Kenoh looked like he was really having fun, and was probably smiling away under that mask and doing things that Kenoh wouldn't normally do. He chose this character due to the associations with his beloved summer retreat of Okinawa, and the fact that he drinks Orion beer, (which is Kenoh's favorite), and is brewed on the island.

Katsuhiko Nakajima found that for all the functionality of a Samurai robe, he couldn't actually kick someone, but he and the songstress shared a dance, someone commented that it looked like something out of an Edo drama (if so the director cast a 5'11 woman to dance with a 5'9 man).

Mohammed Yone took pictures of everything, including the flattened Maybach Taniguchi outside the ring.
Picture

For the full Freddie Mercury affect, Atsushi Kotoge glued black hair to his chest.

Masa Kitamiya Santa started fighting with one of his reindeer (Miyawaki) and then he managed to subdue them both, and so they bowed down either side of him.

The Gorilla (who bought a bunch of banana's with him to the ring) and the Panda got it on, to be broken up by Freddie Mercury.
Yes. I just wrote that sentence.
Kotoge also teased The Gorilla with the bananas.

Yoshinari "Liberace" Ogawa came to the ring and President Daisuke Uchida met him, kicked at him through the ropes, and Ogawa pulled a macho pose, and walked off

Although due to injury he couldn't compete (and given half the chance he stubbornly would have done), Naomichi Marufuji was sitting at ringside, and watching the chaos, he later posed for the commemorative picture. YO-HEY did not join in with the picture.

The event was won by Freddie Kotoge, who received a voucher for a hotel & spa.

After the event, Go Shiozaki (in his role as chairman of the Noah wrestlers association) thanked everyone for coming today, and thanked them for helping to raise the roof so to speak. Next year the wrestlers and the staff, will continue to devote themselves to Pro Wrestling Noah.

Noah will hold their next event on January 6th 2019 at Korakuen Hall

Attendance: 924

Impact Wrestling Full Details On The Upcoming Homecoming PPV...

Published Dec 19, 2018 By Andre Corbeil

Impact Wrestling put out the following press release with details on January 6th Homecoming PPV, which takes place from The Asylum in Nashville, TN

IMPACT Wrestling, a subsidiary of Anthem Sports & Entertainment Corp., returns to pay-per-view on Sunday, Jan. 6 for Homecoming, its first event of the New Year, from The Asylum in Nashville, TN. The three-hour extravaganza kicks off at 8:00 p.m. ET and will be distributed on cable, satellite and digital pay-per-view, including DISH, DirecTV, iN Demand, Vubiquity, Rogers, Bell, Shaw and Sasktel across North America, and streaming live globally exclusively on the FITE.tv app.

Tickets are still available at IMPACTWrestling.com for Homecoming on Jan. 6, as well as television tapings for the flagship weekly show IMPACT! on Jan. 7. Both shows emanate from The Asylum in Nashville.

Fans who purchase the pay-per-view via FITE.tv will receive an email with a coupon code for a free 2019 IMPACT Wrestling calendar from ShopIMPACT.com.

In the Homecoming main event, Johnny Impact will defend the IMPACT World Championship against Brian Cage, who exercised Option C and relinquished the X-Division Title in an attempt to become World Champion.

In the third encounter between the two top Knockouts in IMPACT Wrestling, Tessa Blanchard defends her title against Taya Valkyrie. But this time, Hall of Famer Gail Kim has been added as the special guest referee to ensure there are no shenanigans at play.

A new X-Division Champion will be crowned in the returning Ultimate X match, as Jake Crist, Ethan Page, Rich Swann and Trey Miguel are all vying for the coveted title.
In a highly anticipated dream match, IMPACT Tag Team Champions LAX defend their titles against The Lucha Bros – Pentagon Jr. and Fenix – in a match that might style the show.
In the next chapter of a rivalry that knows no bounds, former best friends Eddie Edwards and Moose will collide in a Falls Count Anywhere match.

The Ball returns to Nashville and it is fit for a Monster! 2018 IMPACT Hall of Fame inductee Abyss has invited former World Champion Eli Drake to the Monster’s Ball.

Dixie Congratulates EC3 On Call-Up To Main WWE Roster. Published Dec 18 2018 By Andre Corbeil...

During Monday's WWE Raw, EC3’s main roster call-up was announced and former President of Impact Wrestling/TNA Dixie Carter is extremely proud at the news.

Carter tweeted, "So proud of you E! Congrats to @wwe too…
Can’t wait to watch you hold those major titles in the air. Love you, Aunt D"

EC3, better known in Impact Wrestling as Ethan Carter III portrayed the nephew of Dixie Carter and much of his initial success is down to Dixie who pushed him as one of the company's biggest names.

It is unknown what brand EC3 will debut on, but speculation suggests it will be Monday Night Raw.

(NOAH) EVENT RECAP ~ "GREAT VOYAGE IN YOKOHAMA VOL.2" (16TH DECEMBER 2018)

12/16/2018

Comments

Picture

"The main event of "Great Voyage" was literally awesome. Also the show exceeded my expectations and I had a good time."

It was a cold winters day of rain and wind in the port city of Yokohama on this December day, but nothing going on outside could compare with what was going to happen this evening. The attendance might have suffered because of the weather (it was great, but just not sold out), but no one in the arena had any doubts at all about what they had paid to see.

Naomichi Marufuji (although not competing) was at the venue today to sign autographs, because he's been told he can't drink or have late nights due to rehabilitation, he's actually been forced into getting some rest, and he looked a lot brighter today, not as exhausted as he has habitually been over the last year.
Kenoh was also on autograph duty (twenty minutes earlier though before his obsessional arch nemesis who he rants is holding him down) came out and took over.

After the show, the Noah wrestlers handed out confectionery.

Go Shiozaki has had a very tiring week what with Noah and DDT, plus an afternoon DDT event today, but today was going to get much much worse for him...

MATCH ONE
Yoshiki Inamura & Kinya Okada vs Mizuki Watase & Lin Dong-Xuan

These two rookies have had a baptism of fire, teaming together at a big event without a Noah senior in the ring. Inamura seemed a little more confident than Okada, who seemed a little hesitant, and in true rookie style both came running to the ring (they will grow out of this)

WINNER: Lin Dong-Xuan with the Boston Crab on Kinya Okada (8 minutes and 38 seconds)

MATCH TWO
Akitoshi Saito, Shiro Koshinaka, Mohammed Yone & Quiet Storm vs Mitsuya Nagai, KAZMA SAKAMOTO, Cody Hall & Masao Inoue

Usual antics from "The Hooligans" attacking with chains (Nagai on Yone, and then back to stealing things from the crowd to choke him with), chairs etc outside the ring.
It was basically a "Golden Era" booking old man match which combined the old vets with the younger guys.
Not considered to be a particularly interesting match other than the fight outside the ring
After the match, The Hooligans and the Vets got rough with each other.

WINNER: Shiro Koshinaka with the powerbomb on Masao Inoue (5 minutes and 22 seconds)

MATCH THREE
HAYATA, YO-HEY & Tadasuke vs Koji Kanemoto, Seiya Morohashi & Junta Miyawaki

Koji Kanemoto came out to his old music which was nostalgic for many people, and Junta Miyawaki came running to the ring.
RATELS put on a show of unity, which would prove to be anything but as later events would show, and Kanemoto fit in very well with HAYATA & YO-HEY in terms of move set and style.

Junta Miyawaki was said to be evolving, and debuted a new move (although I am not sure of what exactly it is). Sadly, he did not get his first win today.

WINNER: Tadasuke with the lariat on Junta Miyawaki (10 minutes and 11 seconds)

MATCH FOUR
Kenoh, Masa Kitamiya & Atsushi Kotoge vs Kazusada Higuchi, Kota Umeda & Nobuhiro Shimatani

This was called an unofficial Noah vs DDT match.

There was one very touching moment when the "Revolutionary Hero" ran through the crowd, and
a little child in a cloak gave him a gift (I don't think he was told off for his time keeping today, being the most senior wrestler in the match).

Back in the ring it was all business with Kotoge doing the sumo thing with Higuchi and then when Kitamiya (similar shape if not size) getting in with him, they crashed into each other.

The audience wanted to see more of Kenoh and Umeda going to head to head and kicking each other

WINNER: Kenoh with the diving footstamp on Nobuhiro Shimitani (11 minutes and 6 seconds)

Picture

MATCH FIVE
Yoshinari Ogawa vs Doug Williams

Doug Williams announced his retirement in October 2018, and has spent the rest of the year wrapping up loose ends and visiting old promotions. He was part of Noah's "Golden Era" and wrestled his last match for the promotion in March 2009 (three months before the terrible tragedy in Hiroshima).
The atmosphere it generated, between Williams and Ogawa, two products of that hazy green summertime when Noah was young, was like being back at The Budokan. The crowd were very excited and emotional as a result.

The match begans with a handshake, then its down to business.
Even after nine years away from Noah, Doug Williams still remembers the old ways. This match was straight from their era, a vanished time now in Noah.

It was called the highlight of the first half, and the match the crowd enjoyed the most so far as it had the most meaning.

The match itself took a toll on Ogawa (he is in his fifties now) and although he has announced no plans to retire, it must be remembered that he mainly works tag matches now and usually with rookies or people like Masao Inoue.

WINNER: Doug Williams with the  Rolling German Suplex Hold (11 minutes and 58 seconds)

MATCH SIX
Hi69 & Minoru Tanaka (c) vs Hajime Ohara & Hitoshi Kumano (GHC Junior Heavyweight Tag Titles)

Hi69 was given flowers for his birthday.
Earlier in the week, Hitoshi Kumano had been given a hideous black eye by one of his opponents (storyline had it that it was either Minoru Tanaka or Hi69), and it was targeted today by his opponents.  Kumano graduated from cub to bear by ferociously fighting back and picking up the win (there were many calls from the crowd for Ohara too), but Kumano impressed many today.
Picture

After the match, Seiya Morohashi came to the ring and made his challenge.
He had found a tag partner.
Young rookie still without his first win, Junta Miyawaki.

Kumano: Finally we have a belt and a team that has challenged, but we are only looking at the top!
Ohara: Hmm. It is not good that people who have never won should challenge. I would like to do an evaluation match.
Miyawaki: I will do whatever it is, whether it is an evaluation match or not!

WINNER: Hitoshi Kumano with the Argentine Backbreaker on Hi69 (17 minutes and 41 seconds)

MATCH SEVEN
Kotaro Suzuki (c) vs Daisuke Harada (GHC Junior Heavyweight Title)

There was a stipulation to this match, that If Harada loses, then RATELS have to split.
Kotaro Suzuki came out seconded by Ogawa, and Harada accompanied by the rest of RATELS.

Daisuke Harada fought like a demon and he and Suzuki tore into each other, he reversed the "Endless Waltz", kicked out of and reversed pretty much everything else. Harada doesn't have bad matches, and in this one he was off the charts as he revealed there was no depths as to what he was capable of doing. Many have said this is Match Of The Year worthy.
Picture

"The Yokohama Incident"
After the match and as RATELS gathered round to celebrate the win and the fact they all got to stay together. YO-HEY grabbed a chair, and hit Harada, and told him that he was going to challenge him for the GHC Junior Heavyweight.
He then walked off with Kotaro Suzuki and Yoshinari Ogawa, leaving everbody stunned.
So stunned that no one really noticed that the next match had begun.
YO-HEY, the most loyal member of RATELS, the only one who had never challenged Daisuke Harada for the title, had turned heel.

RATELS fans can only hope that this is part of some scheme by Harada.

WINNER: Daisuke Harada with the Katayama German Suplex (16 minutes and 41 seconds)

MATCH EIGHT
Katsuhiko Nakajima & Go Shiozaki (c) vs Maybach Taniguchi & Yuji Hino
(GHC Heavyweight Tag Titles)

The Hooligans started off by attacking Go Shiozaki with the belt and making him bleed.
He bled everywhere. It was all down his face and his chest, his face was crimson with blood and he looked like he had been in a deathmatch. Because the blood had gotten into his mouth, he spat it in a mist when chopped. Afterwards he was helped out with Referee Hakuda holding a cloth to his head. During the match he fell outside the ring and made a little girl nearby cry.

Nagai naturally stood outside the ring yelling commands, and all hell broke loose. The Hooligans hit their opponents with anything they could get their hands on, Cody Hall grabbing electronic equipment from President Uchida and passing it to his comrades. Nagai of course pulled the ref out when it looked like either Nakajima or Shiozaki would get the pin.

Taniguchi bought the Sasumata out when the referee was down.
Cody Hall got into the ring.
Then it was either Noah's resident self proclaimed "Revolutionary Hero" (or else a random lunatic), who came running down the ramp putting his cape on as he charged towards the ring.
Yes, Kotoge came to help....except he looked a little less like Superman, and more like Poochy from The Simpsons when he came to rescue Bart and Lisa during a Christmas Special, and like Poochie protecting them from Itchy and Scratchy, it was to no avail (and Kotoge probably made the same noise Poochie did when he was hit by the patrol car when The Hooligans dealt with him).
Then in the chaos and wreckage of Yokohama, Hino picked up a 6ft 243 pound man....and slammed him like he weighed nothing.

Afterwards, 50 Funky Powers came to the ring.
Hino turned to Quiet Storm and said, "Ah, Quiet Storm, my old friend...are you hungry?"
Then a war of words broke out between the two (Yone had his "I can't believe people would be so mean" face on).

WINNER: Yuji Hino with The Fucking Bomb on Go Shiozaki (18 minutes and 18 seconds)

MATCH NINE
Takashi Sugiura (c) vs Kaito Kiyomiya (GHC Heavyweight title)

There was a blizzard of streamers for both of them, and as soon as the bell rang, Yokohama broke the dial and just went off the charts.

There was concern over Sugiura's neck and shoulder as he seemed to have damaged it at some point in the match, but he seemed okay later on, especially in the slap war that he didn't take too well too.

This was beyond just a "very good match", 22 year old inexperienced Kaito Kiyomiya refusing to give up, and they both bought everything out, the Chicken Wing Facelock, Sugi with the Avalanche Olympic Slam (which had felled Kenoh), but Kiyomiya made history and became the youngest GHC Heavyweight Champion in Noah history. A record which is unlikely to be broken.

Then history reversed and repeated itself.
Just as Kaito Kiyomiya had done in December 2017 to challenge the champion for the title, Kenoh did the same in 2018, and challenged him for the belt.
Kenoh told him basically that nothing in that match had impacted him in any way, and he wanted that belt. Kiyomiya told him (in his usual polite fashion, which really is something he needs to stop doing all the time), that he wasn't the same person that Kenoh had faced in January 2018, this time, it was going to be very different.

Title match has been arranged for the 6th January at Korakuen Hall (event will be broadcast live)

All aboard The Ark for 2019!

WINNER: Kaito Kiyomiya with the Tiger Suplex (33 minutes)

ATTENDANCE: 2145

WITH THANKS TO: Metal Noah, Abeshin, Shinya, Fujiwara Armbar, Earth, Pinkie Pie, Fuji, T.Ogawa, Hamahamarin, Hae, Ojiitahara, Kei, Even if I remove the mask, nothing has changed, President George W Bushi
